1 Help, Jehovah; for the godly man ceaseth;

For the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor:

With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.

3 Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips,

The tongue that speaketh great things;

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail;

Our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

5 Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy,

Now will I arise, saith Jehovah;

I will set him in the safety he panteth for.

6 The words of Jehovah are pure words;

As silver tried in a furnace on the earth,

Purified seven times.

7 Thou wilt keep them, O Jehovah,

Thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever.

8 The wicked walk on every side,

When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

Un psalm al lui David

1 Vino în ajutor, Doamne, căci se duc oamenii evlavioși*Is. 57:1.Mica 7:2.,

pier credincioșii dintre fiii oamenilor!

2 Oamenii își spun minciuni*Ps. 10:7. unii altora,

pe buze au lucruri lingușitoare*Ps. 28:3;62:4.Ier. 9:8.Rom. 16:18., vorbesc cu inimă prefăcută.

3 Nimicească Domnul toate buzele lingușitoare,

limba care vorbește cu trufie*1 Sam. 2:3.Ps. 17:10.Dan. 7:8,25.,

4 pe cei ce zic: „Suntem tari cu limba noastră,

căci buzele noastre sunt cu noi. Cine ar putea să fie stăpân peste noi?"

5 „Pentru că cei nenorociți sunt asupriți și pentru că săracii gem,

acum", zice Domnul, „Mă scol*Exod 3:7,8.Is. 33:10. și aduc mântuire celor obijduiți*Ps. 10:5.."

6 Cuvintele Domnului sunt cuvinte*2 Sam. 22:31.Ps. 18:30;19:8;119:140.Prov. 30:5. curate,

un argint lămurit în cuptor de pământ și curățit de șapte ori.

7 Tu, Doamne, îi vei păzi

și-i vei apăra de neamul acesta pe vecie.

8 Pretutindeni mișună cei răi,

când domnește ticăloșia printre fiii oamenilor.
