For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint:

Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

2 Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers,

From the tumult of the workers of iniquity;

3 Who have whet their tongue like a sword,

And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,

4 That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect:

Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

5 They encourage themselves in an evil purpose;

They commune of laying snares privily;

They say, Who will see them?

6 They search out iniquities;

We have accomplished, say they, a diligent search:

And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.

7 But God will shoot at them;

With an arrow suddenly shall they be wounded.

8 So they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them:

All that see them shall wag the head.

9 And all men shall fear;

And they shall declare the work of God,

And shall wisely consider of his doing.

10 The righteous shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him;

And all the upright in heart shall glory.

Un psalm al lui David

1 Ascultă-mi glasul, Dumnezeule, când gem!

Ocrotește-mi viața împotriva vrăjmașului de care mă tem!

2 Păzește-mă de uneltirile celor răi,

de ceata gălăgioasă a oamenilor nelegiuiți!

3 Ei*Ps. 11:2;57:4. își ascut limba ca o sabie,

își aruncă*Ps. 58:7.Ier. 9:3. vorbele lor amare ca niște săgeți,

4 ca să tragă în ascuns asupra celui nevinovat;

trag asupra lui pe neașteptate, fără nicio frică.

5 Ei se*Prov. 1:11. îmbărbătează în răutatea lor:

se sfătuiesc împreună ca să întindă curse

și zic*Ps. 10:11;59:7.: „Cine ne va vedea?"

6 Pun la cale nelegiuiri

și zic: „Iată-ne gata, planul este făcut!"

O prăpastie este lăuntrul și inima fiecăruia!

7 Dar*Ps. 7:12,13. Dumnezeu aruncă săgeți împotriva lor:

deodată iată-i loviți.

8 Limba*Prov. 12:13;18:7. lor le-a pricinuit căderea,

și toți cei ce-i văd clatină*Ps. 31:11;52:6. din cap.

9 Toți oamenii sunt cuprinși de frică*Ps. 40:3.,

și mărturisesc*Ier. 50:28;51:10.: „Iată ce a făcut Dumnezeu"

și recunosc că aceasta este lucrarea Lui!

10 Cel*Ps. 32:11;58:10;68:3. neprihănit se bucură în Domnul și în El își caută scăparea;

toți cei cu inima fără prihană se laudă că sunt fericiți.
