1 Ora, Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou mensageiros até Davi, e madeira de cedro, com pedreiros e carpinteiros, para lhe edificar uma casa.2 E Davi percebeu que o SENHOR lhe havia confirmado rei sobre Israel, porque o seu reino tinha sido muito exaltado, por causa do seu povo, Israel.3 E Davi tomou mais esposas em Jerusalém; e Davi gerou mais filhos e filhas.4 Ora estes são os nomes dos seus filhos, os quais ele teve em Jerusalém: Samua, e Sobabe, Natã, e Salomão,5 e Ibar, e Elisua, e Elpelete,6 e Nogá, e Nefegue, e Jafia,7 e Elisama, e Beeliada, e Elifelete.8 E, quando os filisteus, ouviram que Davi fora ungido rei sobre todo o Israel, todos os filisteus subiram em busca de Davi. E Davi ouviu isto, e saiu contra eles.9 E os filisteus também vieram e se espalharam no vale dos Refains.10 E Davi consultou a DEUS, dizendo: Subirei contra os filisteus, e nas minhas mãos entregarás? E o SENHOR disse a ele: Sobe, porque amanhã eu os entregarei na tua mão.11 Assim, eles subiram até Baal-Perazim; e Davi os feriu ali. Então, Davi disse: Deus irrompeu sobre os meus inimigos por intermédio da minha mão, como o irromper de águas; porquanto chamaram o nome daquele lugar Baal-Perazim.12 E quando eles haviam deixado ali os seus deuses, Davi deu um mandamento, e eles foram queimados com fogo.13 E os filisteus mais uma vez se espalharam ao longe no vale.14 Portanto, Davi voltou a consultar a Deus; e disse-lhe Deus: Não subas atrás deles; desvia-te, e vem sobre eles defronte às amoreiras.15 E será que, quando ouvires o som de um mover sobre a copa das amoreiras, sairás para a batalha; porque Deus saiu adiante para ferir o exército dos filisteus.16 Davi, portanto, fez como Deus lhe ordenou; e eles feriram o exército dos filisteus, desde Gibeão até Gezer.17 E a fama de Davi espalhou-se por todas as terras; e o SENHOR trouxe o temor a ele sobre todas as nações.
1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar timber, with masons and craftsmen, to build him a house.2 Thus David perceived that Jehovah had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom had been exalted on high for the sake of His people Israel.3 And David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters.4 And these are the names of his sons whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,7 Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.8 Now when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it and went out to face them.9 And the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim.10 And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? Have You delivered them into my hand? And Jehovah said to him, Go up, for I have delivered them into your hand.11 So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there. And David said, God has broken through to my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.12 And when they left their gods there, David commanded, and they were burned with fire.13 The Philistines again made a raid on the valley.14 And David again inquired of God, and God said to him, You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the balsam trees.15 And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.16 So David did as God had commanded him, and they struck the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer.17 And Davids fame went out into all the lands, for Jehovah had put the dread of him upon all the nations.
