1 Aos anciãos, que estão entre vós eu exorto, eu que também sou um ancião, e testemunha dos sofrimentos de Cristo, e participante da glória que se há de revelar:2 Alimentai o rebanho de Deus, que está entre vós, assumindo o cuidado dele, não por força, mas voluntariamente; não pela ganância do lucro, mas com um espírito pronto.3 Nem como senhores sobre a herança de Deus, mas como exemplo para o rebanho.4 E quando o sumo Pastor aparecer, recebereis uma coroa de glória incorruptível.5 Semelhantemente, vós jovens, submetei-vos aos anciãos; e sede todos sujeitos uns aos outros, e revesti-vos de humildade, porque Deus resiste aos soberbos, e dá graça aos humildes.6 Humilhai-vos, pois, debaixo da potente mão de Deus, para que ele vos exalte no tempo certo.7 Lançando sobre ele todo vosso cuidado, porque ele cuida de vós.8 Sede sóbrios, sede vigilantes; porque o vosso adversário, o diabo, anda em derredor, como um leão que ruge, buscando a quem possa devorar;9 ao qual resisti firmes na fé, sabendo que as mesmas aflições se cumprem entre os vossos irmãos no mundo.10 Mas que o Deus de toda a graça, que nos chamou para sua eterna glória por Cristo Jesus, depois de terdes sofrido um pouco, vos aperfeiçoe, confirme, fortifique e estabeleça.11 A ele seja a glória e o domínio para sempre e sempre. 1 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory about to be revealed:2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not eager for dishonest gain but with a ready mind;3 not exercising dominion over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.5 Likewise you that are younger, be subject to your elders. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,7 casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares about you.8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are experienced by your brethren in the world.10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.11 To Him be the glory and might forever and ever.
