1 Assim, o rei Salomão foi rei sobre todo o Israel.2 E estes eram os príncipes que ele tinha: Azarias, o filho de Zadoque, o sacerdote,3 Eliorefe e Aías, os filhos de Sisa, escribas; Josafá, o filho de Ailude, o cronista.4 E Benaia, o filho de Joiada estava sobre o exército; e Zadoque e Abiatar eram os sacerdotes:5 e Azarias, o filho de Natã estava sobre os oficiais; e Zabude, o filho de Natã era o oficial-mor, e amigo do rei;6 e Aisar estava sobre a casa; e Adonirão, o filho de Abda estava sobre o tributo.7 E Salomão tinha doze oficiais sobre todo o Israel, os quais davam conta das provisões para o rei e sua casa; cada homem fazia a provisão para um mês no ano.8 E estes são os seus nomes: o filho de Hur, no monte Efraim:9 o filho de Dequer, em Macaz, e em Saalabim, e Bete-Semes, e Elom-Bete-Hanã;10 o filho de Hesede, em Arubote; a ele pertencia Socó, e toda a terra de Héfer;11 o filho de Abinadabe, em toda a região de Dor; o qual tinha por esposa a Tafate, a filha de Salomão;12 Baaná, o filho de Ailude; a ele pertencia Taanaque e Megido, e toda Bete-Seã, a qual está junto a Zaretã abaixo de Jezreel, desde Bete-Seã até Abel-Meolá, até o lugar que está além de Jocmeão.13 o filho de Geber, em Ramote-Gileade; a ele pertencia as aldeias de Jair, o filho de Manassés, as quais estão em Gileade; a ele também pertencia a região de Argobe, a qual está em Basã, sessenta cidades grandes com muralhas e barras de bronze;14 Ainadabe, o filho de Ido tinha Maanaim;15 Aimaás estava em Naftali; ele também tomou Basemate, a filha de Salomão, como esposa;16 Baaná, o filho de Husai estava em Aser e em Alote;17 Josafá, o filho de Parua, em Issacar;18 Simei, o filho de Elá, em Benjamim;19 Geber, o filho de Uri estava na região de Gileade, na região de Seom, rei dos amorreus, e de Ogue, rei de Basã; e ele era o único oficial que estava na terra.20 Judá e Israel eram muitos, como a areia que está junto ao mar em multidão, comendo e bebendo, e se alegrando.21 E Salomão reinou sobre todos os reinos, desde o rio até a terra dos filisteus, e até o limite do Egito; eles traziam presentes, e serviram a Salomão todos os dias da sua vida.22 E a provisão de Salomão para um dia era de trinta medidas de farinha fina, e sessenta medidas de alimento,23 dez bois gordos, e vinte bois dos pastos, e uma centena de ovelhas, além de cervos, e cabritos monteses, e corços, e aves cevadas.24 Porquanto ele tinha domínio sobre toda a região neste lado do rio, desde Tifsa até Gaza, sobre todos os reis deste lado do rio; e tinha paz em todos os lados ao seu redor.25 E Judá e Israel habitaram seguros, cada homem debaixo da sua videira e debaixo da sua figueira, desde Dã até Berseba, todos os dias de Salomão.26 E Salomão tinha quarenta mil cocheiras de cavalos para as suas carruagens, e doze mil cavaleiros.27 E estes oficiais, cada qual no seu mês, forneciam provisão para o rei Salomão, e para todos os que vinham à mesa do rei Salomão; nada deixavam faltar.28 Também traziam cevada e palha para os cavalos e dromedários, para o local onde os oficiais estavam, cada homem segundo a sua incumbência.29 E Deus deu a Salomão sabedoria e muitíssimo entendimento, e grandeza de coração, como a areia que está à beira do mar.30 E a sabedoria de Salomão sobressaía-se à sabedoria de todos os filhos da região oriental, e toda a sabedoria do Egito.31 Porque ele era mais sábio do que todos os homens; mais do que Etã, o ezraíta, e do que Hemã, e Calcol, e Darda, os filhos de Maol; e a sua fama estava em todas as nações ao redor.32 E ele falou três mil provérbios; e os seus cânticos foram mil e cinco.33 E ele falou das árvores, desde o cedro que está no Líbano até o hissopo que brota da muralha; ele falou também dos animais, e das aves, e dos répteis, e dos peixes.34 E ali vinham de todos os povos para ouvir da sabedoria de Salomão, de todos os reis da terra, os quais haviam ouvido acerca da sua sabedoria.

1 Thus King Solomon was king over all Israel.2 And these were his officials: Azariah the son of Zadok, the priest;3 Elihoreph and Ahijah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder;4 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, over the army; Zadok and Abiathar, the priests;5 Azariah the son of Nathan, over the officers; Zabud the son of Nathan, a priest and the king’s friend;6 Ahishar, over the household; and Adoniram the son of Abda, over the labor force.7 And Solomon had twelve deputies over all Israel, who provided food for the king and his household; each one made provision for one month of the year.8 These are their names: Ben-Hur, in the mountains of Ephraim;9 Ben-Deker, in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh, and Elon Beth Hanan;10 Ben-Hesed, in Arubboth; to him belonged Sochoh and all the land of Hepher;11 Ben-Abinadab, in all the regions of Dor; he had Taphath the daughter of Solomon as wife;12 Baana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach, Megiddo, and all Beth Shean, which is beside Zaretan below Jezreel, from Beth Shean to Abel Meholah, as far as the other side of Jokneam;13 Ben-Geber, in Ramoth Gilead; to him belonged the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, in Gilead; to him also belonged the region of Argob in Bashan; sixty large cities with walls and bronze gate-bars;14 Ahinadab the son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;15 Ahimaaz, in Naphtali; he also took Basemath the daughter of Solomon as wife;16 Baanah the son of Hushai, in Asher and Aloth;17 Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar;18 Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin;19 Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan. He was the only deputy who was in the land.20 Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and rejoicing.21 And Solomon reigned over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.22 And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty kors of fine flour, sixty kors of meal,23 ten fatted oxen, twenty oxen from the pastures, and one hundred sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl.24 For he was ruling over all the region on this side of the River from Tiphsah even to Gaza, namely over all the kings on this side of the River; and he had peace on every side all around him.25 And Judah and Israel dwelt securely, every man under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan as far as Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.26 Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.27 And these deputies, each man in his month, provided food for King Solomon and for all who came to King Solomon’s table. They left nothing lacking.28 They also brought barley and straw to the assigned places, for the horses and steeds, each man according to his charge.29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and breadth of heart like the sand on the seashore.30 Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the sons of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt.31 For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations.32 He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five.33 He also spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish.34 And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.
