1 Mais uma vez, Davi reuniu todos os homens escolhidos de Israel: trinta mil.2 E Davi se levantou, e foi com todo o povo que estava com ele a Baalim de Judá, para trazer de lá a arca de Deus, cujo nome é chamado pelo nome do SENHOR dos Exércitos que habita entre os querubins.3 E eles colocaram a arca de Deus sobre uma carruagem nova, e a retiraram da casa de Abinadabe, que ficava em Gibeá; e Uzá e Aiô, os filhos de Abinadabe, conduziram a carruagem nova.4 E eles o retiraram da casa de Abinadabe, que ficava em Gibeá, acompanhando a arca de Deus; e Aiô seguiu adiante da arca.5 E Davi e toda a casa de Israel brincavam diante do SENHOR com toda sorte de instrumentos feitos de madeira de cipreste, também com harpas, e com saltérios, e com adufes, e com cornetas, e com címbalos.6 E, quando chegaram à eira de Nacom, Uzá estendeu a sua mão até a arca de Deus e segurou-a; porque os bois a sacudiam.7 E a ira do SENHOR se acendeu contra Uzá, e Deus o feriu ali por causa do seu erro; e ali ele morreu junto à arca de Deus.8 E Davi ficou aborrecido, porque o SENHOR havia feito uma brecha sobre Uzá; e ele chamou o nome do lugar Perez-Uzá até este dia.9 E Davi teve medo do SENHOR naquele dia, e disse: Como a arca do SENHOR virá até mim?10 Assim, Davi não quis remover a arca do SENHOR até ele, para dentro da cidade de Davi; no entanto, Davi carregou-a ao lado para dentro da casa de Obede-Edom, o geteu.11 E a arca do SENHOR continuou na casa de Obede-Edom, o geteu, três meses; e o SENHOR abençoou Obede-Edom, e toda a sua casa.12 E contaram ao rei Davi, dizendo: O SENHOR abençoou a casa de Obede-Edom, e tudo o que pertence a ele, por causa da arca de Deus. Então Davi foi e fez subir a arca de Deus da casa de Obede-Edom até a cidade de Davi com júbilo.13 E assim sucedeu que, quando aqueles que carregavam a arca do SENHOR haviam avançado seis passos, ele sacrificou bois e novilhos cevados.14 E Davi dançou diante do SENHOR com toda a sua força; e Davi estava cingido com um éfode de linho.15 Assim, Davi e toda a casa de Israel fizeram subir a arca do SENHOR com brados e com o som de trombeta.16 E quando a arca do SENHOR chegou dentro da cidade de Davi, Mical, a filha de Saul, olhou através de uma janela, e viu o rei Davi saltando e dançando diante do SENHOR; e ela o desprezou no seu coração.17 E eles trouxeram para dentro a arca do SENHOR, e a colocaram no seu lugar, no meio do tabernáculo que Davi havia armado para ela; e Davi ofereceu ofertas queimadas e ofertas de paz diante do SENHOR.18 E tão logo Davi tinha terminado de oferecer ofertas queimadas e ofertas de paz, ele abençoou o povo no nome do SENHOR dos Exércitos.19 E ele repartiu entre todas as pessoas, até entre toda a multidão de Israel, tanto às mulheres, quanto aos homens, a cada um, um bolo de pão, e um bom pedaço de carne, e um frasco de vinho. Assim, todo o povo partiu, cada qual para sua casa.20 Então Davi retornou para abençoar sua casa. E Mical, a filha de Saul, saiu para se encontrar com Davi, e disse: Quão glorioso foi hoje o rei de Israel, que se descobriu hoje aos olhos das criadas dos seus servos, como um dos vãos companheiros vergonhosamente se descobre a si mesmo!21 E Davi disse a Mical: Foi diante do SENHOR, que me escolheu diante do teu pai, e diante de toda a sua casa, para me estabelecer como soberano sobre o povo do SENHOR, sobre Israel; portanto eu quero me alegrar diante do SENHOR.22 E, ainda serei mais vil do que isso, e serei humilde à minha própria vista; e das criadas das quais tu falaste, por elas serei tido em honra.23 Por isso, Mical, a filha de Saul, não teve filho até o dia da sua morte.
1 Again David gathered all the choice men of Israel, thirty thousand.2 And David rose up and went, and all the people who were with him from Baale Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of Jehovah of Hosts, who dwells between the cherubim.3 And they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were leading the new cart.4 They brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill, with the ark of God; and Ahio was going before the ark.5 And David and all the house of Israel were making sport before Jehovah with all manner of fir wood; with harps, with lutes, with tambourines, with rattles and buzzing.6 And when they came to Nachons threshing floor, Uzzah stretched out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen had fallen.7 And the anger of Jehovah burned against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God.8 And David was furious because Jehovah had used violence and burst forth against Uzzah; thus the name of the place is called Perez Uzzah to this day.9 And David was afraid of Jehovah that day; and he said, How shall the ark of Jehovah come to me?10 So David was not willing to remove the ark of Jehovah to himself into the City of David; but David turned it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.11 And the ark of Jehovah remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And Jehovah blessed Obed-Edom and all his house.12 And it was reported to King David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.13 And so it was, when those bearing the ark of Jehovah had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.14 And David was dancing before Jehovah with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.15 So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of Jehovah with shouting and with the sound of the shofar.16 And as the ark of Jehovah was coming into the City of David, Michal, Sauls daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before Jehovah; and she despised him in her heart.17 And they brought the ark of Jehovah, and set it in its place in the midst of the tent that David had erected for it. And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Jehovah.18 And when David finished offering the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah of Hosts.19 And he distributed among all the people, among the whole multitude of Israel, both the women and the men, to everyone a cake of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins. And all the people departed, everyone to his house.20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the worthless fellows uncovers to reveal himself!21 And David said to Michal, It was before Jehovah, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of Jehovah, over Israel. Therefore I have danced before Jehovah.22 And I have been even more lightly esteemed than this, and humble in my own eyes. But as for the handmaids of whom you have spoken, by them I was honored.23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.
