1 Ouvi esta palavra que o ­SENHOR fala contra vós, ó filhos de Israel, contra toda a família que fiz subir da terra do Egito, dizendo:2 Só a vós vos tenho conhecido, de todas as famílias da terra; portanto eu vos punirei por todas as vossas iniquidades.3 Podem dois caminharem juntos, se não estiverem de acordo?4 Rugirá o leão na floresta, sem que tenha presa? Levantará o leãozinho no seu covil a sua voz, se nada tiver apanhado?5 Poderá um pássaro cair no laço sobre a terra, se não houver armadilha para ele? Levantar-se-á da terra o laço, sem que tenha apanhado coisa alguma?6 Tocar-se-á a trombeta na cidade, e o povo não temerá? Sucederá algum mal a uma cidade, sem que o SENHOR o tenha feito?7 Certamente o Senhor DEUS não fará nada sem ter revelado seu segredo aos seus servos, os profetas.8 Rugiu o leão, quem não temerá? O Senhor DEUS falou, quem não profetizará?9 Proclamai nos palácios de Asdode, e nos palácios da terra do Egito, e dizei: Ajuntai-vos sobre os montes de Samaria, e vede que grandes alvoroços há no meio dela, e os oprimidos no meio dela.10 Pois não sabem fazer o que é reto, diz o ­SENHOR, aqueles que armazenam violência e roubo em seus palácios.11 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: um inimigo virá, e cercará a terra, e ele derrubará a tua fortaleza, e os teus palácios serão saqueados.12 Assim diz o ­SENHOR: como o pastor livra da boca do leão duas pernas, ou um pedaço de uma orelha, assim também serão livrados os filhos de Israel que habitam em Samaria, no canto de uma cama, e em Damasco, em um leito.13 Ouvi, e testemunhai contra a casa de Jacó, diz o Senhor DEUS, o Deus dos Exércitos;14 pois no dia em que eu visitar as transgressões de Israel, também visitarei os altares de Betel; e os chifres do altar serão cortados, e cairão no chão.15 E eu derrubarei a casa de inverno juntamente com a casa de verão; e as casas de marfim perecerão, e as grandes casas terão fim, diz o ­SENHOR.

1 Hear this Word that Jehovah has spoken against you, O sons of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.3 Can two walk together except they are agreed?4 Will a lion roar in the forest when there is no prey for him? Will a young lion cry out of his den unless he has caught something?5 Will a bird fall into a trap on the ground, where there is no bait for it? Will a trap spring up from the ground, and it has caught nothing at all?6 If a shofar is blown in a city, will the people not also tremble? If there is calamity in a city, will not even Jehovah have done it?7 Surely the Lord Jehovah will do nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.8 A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah has spoken! Who can but prophesy?9 Proclaim in the palaces in Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Gather yourselves on the mountains of Samaria and see great tumults in its midst, and oppressions in its midst.10 For they do not know to do right, declares Jehovah, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.11 Therefore the Lord Jehovah says this: An enemy shall be all around the land. And he shall bring down your strength from you, and your fortresses shall be plundered.12 Thus says Jehovah, As the shepherd snatches two legs out of the mouth of the lion, or a piece of an ear, so shall the sons of Israel be snatched, those who dwell in Samaria in a corner of a bed, and in Damascus on a couch.13 Hear and testify in the house of Jacob, declares the Lord Jehovah the God of Hosts.14 For in the day that I punish the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also attend to the altars of Bethel. And the horns of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.15 And I will strike the winter house along with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall come to an end, declares Jehovah.
