1 E quando o dia de Pentecostes chegou completamente, todos eles estavam unânimes em um lugar.2 E, de repente, veio um som do céu, como de uma rajada de vento impetuoso, e encheu toda a casa onde eles estavam assentados.3 E lá apareceram a eles línguas divididas como de fogo, e pousou sobre cada um deles.4 E todos foram cheios do Espírito Santo, e começaram a falar em outros idiomas, conforme o Espírito Santo lhes concedia falar.5 E, em Jerusalém estavam habitando judeus, homens religiosos, de todas as nações debaixo do céu.6 E, quando isso foi amplamente divulgado, ajuntou-se uma multidão, e estavam confusos, porque cada homem os ouvia falar em seu próprio idioma.7 E todos eles estavam atônitos e maravilhavam-se, dizendo uns aos outros: Vede, não são galileus todos estes que falam?8 Como ouvimos cada homem em nosso próprio idioma, em que nascemos?9 Partos e medos, elamitas e os que habitam a Mesopotâmia, a Judeia e a Capadócia, o Ponto e a Ásia,10 a Frígia, a Panfília, o Egito e as partes da Líbia, junto a Cirene, e estrangeiros de Roma, judeus e prosélitos,11 e cretenses, e árabes, todos os ouvimos falar em nossos próprios idiomas as obras maravilhosas de Deus.12 E todos se maravilhavam e estavam em dúvida, dizendo uns para os outros: O que significa isto?13 E outros, zombando, diziam: Estes homens estão cheios de vinho novo.14 Mas Pedro, pondo-se em pé com os onze, levantou a sua voz e disse-lhes: Homens da Judeia, e todos vós que habitais em Jerusalém, seja-vos isto conhecido, e escutai as minhas palavras:15 Porque estes não estão embriagados, como imaginais, sendo esta a terceira hora do dia.16 Mas isto é o que foi falado pelo profeta Joel:17 E acontecerá nos últimos dias, diz Deus, eu derramarei do meu Espírito sobre toda a carne; e os vossos filhos e as vossas filhas profetizarão, os vossos homens jovens terão visões, e os vossos homens velhos sonharão sonhos;18 e sobre os meus servos e sobre as minhas servas, eu derramarei do meu Espírito naqueles dias, e eles profetizarão;19 e eu mostrarei maravilhas em cima no céu, e sinais embaixo na terra: sangue, fogo e vapor de fumaça;20 o sol se tornará em trevas, e a lua em sangue, antes que venha o grande e glorioso dia do ­Senhor.21 E acontecerá que todo aquele que invocar o nome do ­Senhor será salvo.22 Homens de Israel, ouvi estas palavras: Jesus de Nazaré, homem aprovado por Deus entre vós com milagres, maravilhas e sinais, que Deus fez por ele no meio de vós, como também vós sabeis;23 a este, entregado pelo determinado conselho e presciência de Deus, tomando-o vós, pelas mãos perversas o crucificastes e o matastes;24 quem Deus levantou, tendo soltado as dores da morte, porque não era possível que ele fosse retido por ela.25 Porque Davi fala a respeito dele: Eu via o ­Senhor sempre diante da minha face, porque ele está à minha destra, para que eu não seja abalado;26 por isso o meu coração se regozijou, e a minha língua exultou; e além disto, a minha carne também repousará na esperança;27 porque tu não deixarás a minha alma no inferno, nem permitirás que o teu Santo veja a corrupção.28 Fizeste-me conhecer os caminhos da vida, encher-me-ás de alegria com o teu semblante.29 Homens e irmãos, deixem-me falar-vos francamente do patriarca Davi, que ele morreu e foi sepultado, e a sua sepultura está entre nós até hoje.30 Portanto, sendo profeta, e sabendo que Deus lhe havia jurado com juramento que do fruto de seus lombos, segundo a carne, ele levantaria o Cristo, para sentar-se sobre o seu trono;31 ele prevendo isto, falou da ressurreição de Cristo, que a sua alma não foi deixada no inferno, nem a sua carne viu a corrupção.32 A este Jesus, Deus o ressuscitou, do qual todos nós somos testemunhas.33 Portanto, tendo sido exaltado pela destra de Deus, e tendo recebido do Pai a promessa do Espírito Santo, ele derramou isto que vós agora vedes e ouvis.34 Porque Davi não subiu aos céus, mas ele próprio diz: O ­SENHOR disse ao meu ­Senhor: assenta-te à minha destra,35 até eu fazer teus inimigos por escabelo de teus pés.36 Saiba, pois, com certeza, toda a casa de Israel, que a esse mesmo Jesus, a quem vós crucificastes, Deus o fez Senhor e Cristo.37 Ora, quando eles ouviram isto, compungiram-se em seu coração e disseram a Pedro e aos demais apóstolos: Homens e irmãos, o que faremos?38 Então, disse-lhes Pedro: Arrependei-vos, e seja batizado cada um de vós, no nome de Jesus Cristo para remissão dos pecados, e recebereis o dom do Espírito Santo.39 Porque a promessa é para vós, e para vossos filhos, e para todos os que estão longe, todos quantos o Senhor nosso Deus chamar.40 E com muitas outras palavras ele testificava e os exortava, dizendo: Salvai-vos desta geração perversa.41 Então, os que alegremente receberam a sua palavra foram batizados; e naquele dia acrescentaram-se em torno de três mil almas.42 E eles continuaram firmemente na doutrina dos apóstolos, e na comunhão, e no partir do pão, e nas orações.43 E sobreveio temor à toda alma, e muitas maravilhas e sinais eram feitos pelos apóstolos.44 E todos os que criam estavam juntos e tinham todas as coisas em comum.45 E vendiam suas propriedades e bens, e repartiam com todos os homens, conforme cada homem necessitava.46 E eles, perseverando diariamente em comum acordo no templo, e partindo o pão de casa em casa, comiam o seu alimento com alegria e singeleza de coração.47 Louvando a Deus, e tendo o favor de todo o povo. E o Senhor acrescentava diariamente à igreja os que estavam sendo salvos.

1 And when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.2 And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as being borne along by a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, being distributed, and it sat upon each one of them.4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because everyone heard them speaking in his own dialect.7 And they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Behold, are not all these who speak Galileans?8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own dialect in which we were born?9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,11 Cretans and Arabs; we hear them speaking in our tongues the wonderful works of God.12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, Whatever would this wish to be?13 Others mocking said, They are full of sweet wine.14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words.15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out from My Spirit upon all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.19 I will present wonders in the heavens above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke.20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.22 Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man approved by God to you by works of power, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know;23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;24 whom God raised up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it.25 For David says concerning Him: I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is at my right hand, that I not be shaken.26 Therefore my heart rejoices, and my tongue is glad; moreover my flesh also dwells in hope.27 For You will not leave My soul in Hades, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.29 Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne;31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.32 This Jesus, God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.34 For David did not ascend into Heaven, but he says himself: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand,35 until I make Your enemies Your footstool.36 Therefore let all the house of Israel understand with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be immersed in the name of Jesus Christ to the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation.41 Then those who gladly received his word were immersed; and that day about three thousand souls were added.42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.43 And fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs took place through the apostles.44 Now all the believers were together, and had all things in common,45 and sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to each person, as anyone had need.46 So continuing day by day with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
