1 Depois que cessou o alvoroço, Paulo chamou a si os discípulos e, abraçando-os, saiu para a Macedônia.2 E, tendo passado por aquelas regiões, e lhes dando muitas exortações, veio à Grécia,3 e ali permaneceu por três meses, e quando os judeus lhe fizeram ciladas, estando prestes a navegar para a Síria, ele propôs retornar através da Macedônia.4 E acompanharam-no até a Ásia: Sópatro, de Bereia, e dos de Tessalônica, Aristarco e Secundo, e Gaio, de Derbe, e Timóteo; e da Ásia, Tíquico e Trófimo.5 Estes, indo adiante, esperaram por nós em Trôade.6 E nós navegamos de Filipos depois dos dias dos pães ázimos, e fomos ter com eles em Trôade depois de cinco dias, onde permanecemos por sete dias.7 No primeiro dia da semana, ajuntando-se os discípulos para partir o pão, Paulo pregava para eles, pronto para partir no dia seguinte; e continuou o seu discurso até a meia-noite.8 E havia muitas luzes no quarto superior onde eles estavam juntos.9 E havia um certo jovem, chamado Êutico, sentado numa janela, e caindo em um profundo sono, que lhe sobreveio durante a longa pregação de Paulo, caiu do terceiro andar; e foi levantado morto.10 Paulo, porém, descendo, inclinou-se sobre ele e, abraçando-o, disse: Não vos perturbeis, pois sua vida está nele.11 Quando ele, portanto, surgiu novamente, e tendo partido o pão, e comido, conversamos um longo tempo, até o romper do dia; então ele partiu.12 E eles trouxeram o jovem vivo, e ficaram muito confortados.13 E nós, indo na frente até ao navio, navegamos até Assôs, onde pretendíamos receber Paulo, porque assim ele ordenara, querendo ele mesmo ir a pé.14 E quando nos encontrou em Assôs, nós o tomamos e chegamos a Mitilene.15 E, navegando dali, chegamos no dia seguinte defronte de Quios, e no dia seguinte chegamos a Samos, e, tendo permanecido em Trogílio, no dia seguinte chegamos a Mileto.16 Porque Paulo já havia determinado navegar por Éfeso, para ele não gastar tempo na Ásia. Apressava-se para, se possível, estar em Jerusalém no dia de Pentecostes.17 E de Mileto ele enviou alguém para Éfeso, e chamou os anciãos da igreja.18 E, quando eles chegaram, disse-lhes: Vós sabeis, desde o primeiro dia em que eu entrei na Ásia, qual foi a minha conduta entre vós o tempo todo,19 servindo ao Senhor com toda a humildade e com muitas lágrimas e tentações, que pelas ciladas dos judeus, me sobrevieram.20 E como eu não retive nada que lhes fosse útil, mas vos mostrei e ensinei-os publicamente, e de casa em casa,21 testificando, tanto aos judeus como também aos gregos, o arrependimento para com Deus, e a fé em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.22 E agora, eis que estou indo para Jerusalém, atado no Espírito, não sabendo as coisas que lá me acontecerão,23 salvo o que o Espírito Santo me testifica em toda cidade, dizendo que prisões e aflições me esperam.24 Mas nenhuma destas coisas me comove, nem valorizo minha vida para mim mesmo, para concluir com alegria a minha carreira, e o ministério que recebi do Senhor Jesus, para testificar do evangelho da graça de Deus.25 E agora, eis que eu sei que todos vós, por quem passei pregando o reino de Deus, não vereis mais minha face.26 Portanto, eu vos declaro neste dia que estou limpo do sangue de todos os homens.27 Porque eu não evitei de declarar a todos vós o conselho de Deus.28 Tenham cuidado, pois, de vós mesmos, e de todo o rebanho, sobre o qual o Espírito Santo vos constituiu supervisores, para alimentardes a igreja de Deus, que ele comprou com seu próprio sangue.29 Porque eu sei que, após a minha partida, lobos vorazes entrarão no meio de vós, não poupando o rebanho.30 E também dentre vós mesmos se levantarão homens que falarão coisas perversas, para atraírem os discípulos após eles.31 Portanto, vigiai, lembrando-vos de que durante três anos eu não deixei de avisar a cada um de vós noite e dia com lágrimas.32 E agora, irmãos, encomendo-vos a Deus e à palavra da sua graça, que é capaz de edificar-vos e dar-vos herança entre todos os que são santificados.33 De nenhum homem cobicei a prata, o ouro, ou a veste.34 Sim, vós mesmos sabeis que estas mãos ministraram para as minhas necessidades e daqueles que estavam comigo.35 Tenho-vos mostrado todas as coisas, que trabalhando assim, é necessário apoiar os fracos e lembrar as palavras do Senhor Jesus, que disse: É mais abençoado dar do que receber.36 E, tendo falado isto, ele ajoelhou-se e orou com todos eles.37 E todos eles choraram muito, e, lançando-se ao pescoço de Paulo, o beijavam,38 entristecendo-se muito, por toda palavra que ele dissera, que eles nunca mais veriam a sua face. 1 After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples to himself, embraced them, and departed to go to Macedonia.2 Now when he had passed through that region and encouraged them with many words, he came to Greece3 and stayed three months. And when the Jews plotted against him as he was about to sail to Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.4 And Sopater of Berea accompanied him to Asia; also Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia.5 These men, going ahead, waited for us at Troas.6 But we sailed away from Philippi after the Days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days came to them at Troas, where we stayed seven days.7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.8 And there were many lamps in the upper room where they were gathered together.9 And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.10 But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, Do not be troubled, for his life is in him.11 Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed.12 And they brought the young man in alive, and they were not a little comforted.13 Then we went ahead to the ship and sailed to Assos, there intending to take Paul on board; for so it was arranged, intending himself to go on foot.14 And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and came to Mitylene.15 And we sailed from there, and the next day came opposite Chios. And the following day we arrived at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium. The next day we came to Miletus.16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the Day of Pentecost.17 So, from Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church.18 And when they had come to him, he said to them: You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I lived among you all the time,19 serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews;20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house,21 testifying both to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.25 And behold now, I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more.26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am blameless from the blood of everyone.27 For I have not shrunk back from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.29 For I know this, that after my departure vicious wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.32 So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.33 I have coveted no ones silver or gold or apparel.34 Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have served for my necessities, and for those who were with me.35 I have shown you in everything, by laboring like this, that we need to support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.36 And when he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.37 Then they all wept greatly, and fell on Pauls neck and kissed him again and again,38 sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they would see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.
