1 Ora, Pedro e João subiam juntos ao templo à hora da oração, sendo a hora nona.2 Estava sendo carregado um homem coxo desde o ventre de sua mãe, o qual diariamente punham à porta do templo chamada Formosa, para pedir esmola aos que entravam no templo;3 o qual, vendo Pedro e João entrando no templo, pediu uma esmola.4 E Pedro, fixando os olhos nele com João, disse: Olha para nós.5 E ele estava atento, esperando receber alguma coisa deles.6 Então, Pedro disse: Eu não tenho prata nem ouro, mas o que eu tenho isto te dou: Em nome de Jesus Cristo de Nazaré, levanta-te e anda.7 E ele, tomando-o pela mão direita, o levantou, e imediatamente os seus pés e ossos do tornozelo receberam força.8 E, saltando, ele se pôs em pé, e andou, e entrou com eles no templo, andando e saltando, e louvando a Deus.9 E todo o povo o viu andando e louvando a Deus;10 e reconheceram ser ele o que se assentava a pedir esmola à porta Formosa do templo; eles ficaram cheios de admiração e assombro pelo que lhe acontecera.11 E, apegando-se o homem coxo a Pedro e João, todo o povo correu atônito para junto deles no alpendre chamado de Salomão.12 E, quando Pedro viu isto, ele respondeu ao povo: Homens de Israel, por que vos maravilhais disto? Ou, por que olhais seriamente para nós, como se por nosso próprio poder ou santidade fizéssemos este homem andar?13 O Deus de Abraão, e de Isaque, e de Jacó, o Deus de nossos pais, glorificou a seu Filho Jesus, a quem vós entregastes e negastes na presença de Pilatos, tendo ele determinado que fosse solto.14 Mas vós negastes o Santo e o Justo, e desejastes que vos fosse concedido um assassino;15 e matastes o Príncipe da vida, ao qual Deus ressuscitou dos mortos, do qual nós somos testemunhas.16 E pela fé em seu nome, fortaleceu o seu nome a este homem, a quem vedes e conheceis; sim, a fé nele, deu a este perfeita saúde, na presença de todos vós.17 E agora, irmãos, eu sei que por ignorância fizestes isto, como fez também os vossos governantes.18 Mas estas coisas, que Deus prenunciou pela boca de todos os seus profetas, que o Cristo sofreria, ele assim o cumpriu.19 Arrependei-vos, portanto, e convertei-vos, para que os vossos pecados sejam apagados, e assim venham da presença do Senhor, tempos de refrigério;20 e ele enviará Jesus Cristo, que já vos foi pregado,21 ao qual é necessário que o céu receba até os tempos da restauração de todas as coisas, das quais Deus falou pela boca de todos os seus santos profetas, desde o princípio do mundo.22 Pois na verdade Moisés disse aos pais: O Senhor vosso Deus vos levantará um profeta, dentre vossos irmãos, semelhante a mim; a ele ouvireis em todas as coisas que ele vos disser.23 E acontecerá que, toda alma que não escutar esse profeta, será destruída dentre o povo.24 Sim, e todos os profetas desde Samuel, e os que seguiram depois, todos quantos falaram, também predisseram estes dias.25 Vós sois os filhos dos profetas e do pacto que Deus fez com nossos pais, dizendo a Abraão: E em tua semente todas as famílias da terra serão abençoadas.26 Ressuscitando Deus a seu Filho Jesus, primeiro o enviou a vós, para vos abençoar, afastando cada um de vós das suas iniquidades.
1 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.2 And a certain man lame from his mothers womb was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, Look at us.5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them; walking, leaping, and praising God.9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.10 And they knew that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.11 And as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomons, greatly amazed.12 And when Peter saw it, he answered the people: Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this one? Or why do you gaze on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Son Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to set Him free.14 But you denied the Holy and Just One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,15 and killed the Prince of Life, whom God raised up from the dead, of which we are witnesses.16 And His Name, by faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.17 Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers.18 But those things which God foretold through the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,21 whom Heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, of which God has spoken through the mouth of all His holy prophets since the past ages.22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, The Lord your God will raise up to you a Prophet like me from among your brethren. You shall hear Him in all things, whatever He says to you.23 And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.24 Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.25 You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in your Seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.26 Having raised up His Son Jesus, God sent Him to you first, to bless you in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.
