1 Sede, pois, seguidores de Deus, como filhos queridos;2 e andai em amor, como também Cristo nos amou, e se entregou a si mesmo por nós, em oferta e sacrifício a Deus, em cheiro suave.3 Mas a fornicação e toda impureza ou avareza nem ainda se nomeiem entre vós, como convém a santos;4 nem imundícia, nem conversas tolas, nem gracejos, que não convêm; mas, antes, ações de graças.5 Porque bem sabeis isto: que nenhum devasso, ou pessoa impura, ou homem avarento, o qual é idolatra, tem herança alguma no reino de Cristo e de Deus.6 Ninguém vos engane com palavras vãs; porque por essas coisas vem a ira de Deus sobre os filhos da desobediência.7 Portanto, não sejais participantes com eles.8 Porque, noutro tempo, éreis trevas, mas agora sois luz no Senhor; andai como filhos da luz,9 (pois o fruto do Espírito está em toda bondade, e justiça, e verdade),10 aprovando o que é aceitável ao Senhor.11 E não tenhais comunhão com as obras infrutíferas das trevas, mas, antes, reprovai-as.12 Porque até falar destas coisas que são feitas por eles em secreto é vergonha.13 Mas todas as coisas que são reprovadas, são manifestadas pela luz: Pois tudo o que manifesta é luz.14 Pelo que ele diz: Desperta, ó tu que dormes, e levanta-te dentre os mortos, e Cristo te dará a luz.15 Portanto, vede prudentemente como andais, não como tolos, mas como sábios,16 remindo o tempo, porque os dias são maus.17 Por isso não sejais insensatos, mas entendei qual seja a vontade do Senhor.18 E não vos embriagueis com vinho, no qual há excesso, mas enchei-vos do Espírito;19 falando entre vós com salmos, e hinos, e cânticos espirituais, cantando e louvando ao Senhor no vosso coração,20 dando sempre graças por todas as coisas a Deus e Pai, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,21 sujeitando-vos uns aos outros no temor de Deus.22 Esposas, submetam-se aos seus maridos, como ao Senhor.23 Porque o marido é a cabeça da esposa, como também Cristo é a cabeça da igreja, sendo ele próprio o salvador do corpo.24 Portanto, assim como a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também as mulheres sejam em tudo sujeitas a seu marido.25 Maridos, amem suas esposas, assim como também Cristo amou a igreja e a si mesmo se entregou por ela,26 para a santificar, purificando-a com a lavagem da água, pela palavra,27 para a apresentar a si mesmo igreja gloriosa, sem mácula, ou ruga, ou coisa semelhante, mas santa e ­irrepreensível.28 Assim devem os maridos amar a sua própria esposa como a seu próprio corpo. Quem ama a sua esposa ama-se a si mesmo.29 Porque nenhum homem detestou a sua própria carne; antes, a alimenta e sustenta, como também o Senhor à igreja;30 porque somos membros do seu corpo, da sua carne, e dos seus ossos.31 Por isso, o homem deixará seu pai e sua mãe e se unirá à sua esposa; e os dois serão uma só carne.32 Este é um grande mistério; digo-o, porém, a respeito de Cristo e da igreja.33 Assim também vós, cada um em particular ame a sua própria esposa como a si mesmo, e a esposa reverencie seu marido.

1 Therefore be imitators of God as beloved children.2 And walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.3 But sexual perversion and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.5 For this you know, that no prostitute, unclean person, nor covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.6 Let no one beguile you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),10 proving what is acceptable to the Lord.11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.14 Therefore He says: Awake, you who sleep, stand forth out from among the dead, and Christ will shine on you.15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is debauchery; but be filled by the Spirit,19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word,27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.31 For this, a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she reverence her husband.
