1 E, no primeiro dia da semana, Maria Madalena foi ao sepulcro cedo, sendo ainda escuro, e viu que a pedra fora retirada do sepulcro.2 Então, ela correu e foi a Simão Pedro, e ao outro discípulo, a quem Jesus amava, e disse-lhes: Eles levaram o Senhor do sepulcro, e nós não sabemos onde eles o puseram.3 Então, Pedro saiu com o outro discípulo, e foram ao sepulcro.4 Assim os dois corriam juntos, mas o outro discípulo ultrapassou a Pedro, e chegou primeiro ao sepulcro.5 E, ele curvando-se, olhou para dentro, e viu os panos de linho postos ali; todavia, ele não entrou.6 Então, chegou Simão Pedro, que o seguia, e entrou no sepulcro, e viu os panos de linho caídos,7 e que o lenço, que estivera sobre a sua cabeça, não estava caído com os panos de linho, mas enrolado, em um lugar à parte.8 Então, foi também o outro discípulo, que chegara primeiro ao sepulcro, e ele viu, e creu.9 Pois, como eles ainda não entendiam a escritura, que diz que ele deveria ressuscitar dos mortos.10 Então, os discípulos retornaram para a sua própria casa.11 Mas Maria ficou parada e chorando do lado de fora da sepultura, e, enquanto ela chorava, curvou-se, e olhou dentro do sepulcro,12 e viu dois anjos de branco, assentados onde jazera o corpo de Jesus, um à cabeceira e outro aos pés.13 E disseram-lhe eles: Mulher, por que tu choras? A quem procuras? Ela, supondo que fosse o jardineiro, disse-lhe: Senhor, se tu o levaste, dize-me onde tu o puseste, e eu o levarei.16 Disse-lhe Jesus: Maria. Ela, voltando-se, disse-lhe: Raboni, que quer dizer, Mestre.17 Disse-lhe Jesus: Não me detenhas porque eu ainda não subi para meu Pai, mas vai ter com meus irmãos, e dize-lhes: Eu subo para meu Pai, e vosso Pai; e para meu Deus, e vosso Deus.18 Maria Madalena foi e contou aos discípulos que ela vira o Senhor, e que ele lhe falara essas coisas.19 Então, naquele mesmo dia à tarde, sendo o primeiro dia da semana, estando fechadas as portas onde os discípulos, com medo dos judeus, estavam reunidos, chegou Jesus, e pôs-se no meio, e disse-lhes: Paz seja convosco.20 E, dizendo isso, mostrou-lhes as suas mãos e o seu lado. Então, os discípulos se alegraram ao verem o Senhor.21 Então, disse Jesus novamente: Paz seja convosco; assim como meu Pai me enviou, também eu vos envio.22 E, tendo dito isso, assoprou sobre eles, e disse-lhes: Recebei o Espírito Santo.23 Àqueles a quem perdoardes os pecados, lhes são perdoados; e àqueles a quem os pecados retiverdes, lhes são retidos.24 Mas Tomé, um dos doze, chamado Dídimo, não estava com eles quando veio Jesus.25 Portanto, os outros discípulos diziam-lhe: Nós vimos o Senhor. Mas ele disse-lhes: A não ser que eu veja em suas mãos a marca dos cravos, e não puser o meu dedo na marca dos cravos, e não puser a minha mão no seu lado, eu não crerei.26 E, oito dias depois, estavam outra vez os seus discípulos dentro, e com eles Tomé; então chegou Jesus, estando as portas fechadas, e ficou no meio, e disse: Paz seja convosco.27 Então, ele disse para Tomé: Põe aqui o teu dedo, e vê as minhas mãos; põe aqui a tua mão e põe-na no meu lado; não sejas incrédulo, mas crente.28 E Tomé respondeu e disse-lhe: Meu Senhor e meu Deus.29 Disse-lhe Jesus: Tomé, porque me viste, tu creste; abençoados são os que não viram, e creram.30 E muitos outros sinais, que não estão escritos neste livro, verdadeiramente Jesus fez na presença de seus discípulos.31 Mas estes estão escritos, para que possam crer que Jesus é o Cristo, o Filho de Deus, e para que, crendo, tenhais vida através do seu nome.

1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.3 Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and came to the tomb.4 So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.5 And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in.6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there,7 and the face cloth that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.8 Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.9 For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that it was necessary for Him to rise again from the dead.10 Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.11 But Mary stood outside near the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down into the tomb.12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.13 And they said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.14 And when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.15 Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.16 Jesus said to her, Mary! She turned and said to Him, Rabboni! (which is to say, Teacher)17 Jesus said to her, Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, Peace to you.20 And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.21 So Jesus said to them again, Peace to you. As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; whatever you lay hold upon, it is held fast.24 But Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.25 The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. So he said to them, Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not ever believe.26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace to you.27 Then He said to Thomas, Bring your finger here, and look at My hands; and bring your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, My Lord and my God!29 Jesus said to him, Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those not seeing and yet believing.30 And truly Jesus did many other signs before His disciples, which are not written in this book;31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
