1 Mas Jó respondeu e disse:2 Como ajudaste aquele que está sem poder? Como salvas o braço que não tem força?3 Como aconselhaste aquele que não tem sabedoria; e como plenamente declaraste a coisa como ela é?4 A quem proferiste palavras, e de quem é o espírito que veio de ti?5 Coisas mortas são formadas debaixo das águas, e dos seus habitantes.6 O inferno está nu perante ele, e a destruição não tem cobertura.7 Ele estende o norte sobre o lugar vazio; e suspende a terra sobre o nada.8 Ele prende as águas em suas nuvens espessas, e a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.9 Ele retém a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.10 Cercou as águas com fronteiras, até que o dia e a noite cheguem ao fim.11 Os pilares do céu tremem e se espantam com sua reprovação12 Ele divide o mar com o seu poder, e com seu entendimento abate o orgulhoso.13 Pelo seu Espírito ele ornou os céus; a sua mão formou a serpente torta.14 Eis que estas são partes dos seus caminhos; e quão pouca é a porção do que se ouve dele? Porém o trovão do seu poder, quem consegue entender?

1 But Job answered and said:2 How have you helped him who is without power? How have you saved the arm that has no strength?3 How have you counseled one who has no wisdom, or widely declared sound wisdom?4 To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit came from you?5 The spirits of the dead wait anxiously under the waters, and those inhabiting them.6 Sheol is naked before Him, and Abaddon has no covering.7 He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.8 He binds up the waters in His thick clouds, yet the clouds are not split open under them.9 He covers the face of His throne, and spreads His cloud over it.10 He has encircled a boundary for the face of the waters at the edge of light and darkness.11 The pillars of heaven tremble, and are astonished at His rebuke.12 He has stirred up the sea with His power, and by His understanding has shattered the arrogant.13 By His Spirit He has made the heavens beautiful; His hand has brought forth the fleeing serpent.14 Lo, these are the extremities of His ways; yea, what a whisper of a word has been heard of Him! But the thunder of His might who can understand?
