1 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés e a Arão, dizendo-lhes:2 Falai aos filhos de Israel, dizendo: estes são os animais que comereis entre todos os animais que estão sobre a terra:3 Tudo o que tem unhas fendidas, e cuja fenda das unhas se divide em duas, e rumina, entre os animais, aquilo comereis.4 Todavia, não comereis dos que ruminam, ou dos que têm unhas fendidas: como o camelo, porque rumina, mas não tem unhas fendidas; este vos será impuro;5 e o coelho, porque rumina, mas não tem as unhas fendidas; este vos será impuro;6 e a lebre, porque rumina, mas não tem as unhas fendidas; esta vos será impura.7 E o suíno, embora tenha unhas fendidas, e a fenda das unhas se divida em duas, ele não rumina; este vos será impuro;8 da sua carne não comereis, nem tocareis a sua carcaça; estes vos serão impuros.9 Isto comereis de tudo o que está nas águas: tudo o que tem barbatanas e escamas nas águas, nos mares e nos rios; aquilo comereis.10 E tudo o que não tem barbatanas nem escamas, nos mares e nos rios, tudo o que se move nas águas, e qualquer vida que está nas águas, estes serão abominação para vós.11 Eles serão uma abominação para vós; não comereis da sua carne, porém tereis suas carcaças como abominação.12 Tudo o que não tem barbatanas ou escamas nas águas será uma abominação para vós.13 E estas são as que abominareis entre as aves; não serão consumidas; são uma abominação: a águia, e o quebrantosso, e o xofrango,14 e o falcão, e o papagaio segundo a sua espécie;15 todo corvo segundo a sua espécie,16 e a coruja, e o falcão da noite, e o cuco, e o gavião segundo a sua espécie,17 e a pequena coruja, e o corvo-marinho, e a grande coruja,18 e o cisne, e o pelicano, e o alcatraz,19 e a cegonha, e a garça segundo a sua espécie, e a poupa, e o morcego.20 Todo o inseto que voa, que anda de quatro, será uma abominação para vós.21 Contudo estes podereis comer de todo inseto que rasteja e voa, que anda de quatro: o que tiver pernas sobre os seus pés, para saltar com elas sobre a terra;22 esses podereis comer: a locusta segundo a sua espécie, e a locusta lisa segundo a sua espécie, e o besouro segundo a sua espécie, e o gafanhoto segundo a sua espécie.23 Porém todas as outras coisas rastejantes e voadoras, que tem quatro pés serão uma abominação para vós.24 E por estes sereis impuros; qualquer que tocar a sua carcaça será impuro até a tarde.25 E qualquer que levar as suas carcaças lavará as suas vestes, e será impuro até a tarde.26 As carcaças de todo animal que tem unhas fendidas, mas a fenda não se divide em duas e que não rumina vos será por impuro; todo aquele que tocar neles será impuro.27 E tudo o que anda sobre as suas patas, entre todos os tipos de animais que andam de quatro, estes vos são impuros; qualquer que tocar sua carcaça será impuro até a tarde.28 E o que levar a sua carcaça lavará as suas vestes, e será impuro até a tarde; eles vos serão por impuros.29 Estes também vos serão por impuros entre as coisas rastejantes que se arrastam sobre a terra: a doninha, e o rato, e a tartaruga segundo a sua espécie,30 e o ouriço, e o camaleão, e a lagartixa, e o caracol, e a toupeira.31 Estes são impuros para vós entre tudo o que rasteja; qualquer que os tocar, estando eles mortos, será impuro até a tarde.32 Também será impuro tudo aquilo que cair sobre um destes, estando morto, seja algum vaso de madeira, ou veste, ou pele, ou saco, ou qualquer instrumento com que se faz algum trabalho, será colocado na água e será impuro até a tarde; depois, será purificado.33 E todo vaso de barro em que algum deles cair, tudo o que estiver nele será impuro; e o quebrareis.34 De todo alimento que pode ser comido, sobre o qual vier tal água será impuro; e toda bebida que se beber em tal vaso, será impura.35 E tudo aquilo sobre o que cair alguma parte da sua carcaça será impuro; seja o forno ou fornos para panelas, estes deverão ser quebrados porque são impuros, e serão impuros para vós.36 Porém a fonte ou cisterna, onde há muita água, será limpa; mas quem tocar na sua carcaça será impuro.37 E se alguma parte da sua carcaça cair sobre alguma semente de semear, esta será limpa;38 mas se alguma água for colocada sobre a semente, e alguma parte da sua carcaça cair sobre ela, vos será por impura.39 E se morrer algum animal, do qual vós podeis comer, aquele que tocar na sua carcaça será impuro até a tarde;40 e aquele que comer da sua carcaça lavará as suas vestes, e será impuro até a tarde; e também quem levar a sua carcaça lavará as suas vestes, e será impuro até a tarde.41 E cada coisa rastejante que se arrasta sobre a terra será uma abominação; isto não se comerá.42 Tudo o que anda sobre a barriga, e tudo o que anda de quatro, ou tudo que tem mais pés entre todas as coisas rastejantes que se arrastam sobre a terra, não comereis, porque são uma abominação.43 Não vos façais abomináveis por nenhuma coisa rastejante que se arrasta, nem vos contamineis com eles, para não serdes contaminados por eles.44 Porque eu sou o SENHOR, vosso Deus; portanto, vós vos santificareis e sereis santos, porque eu sou santo; e não contaminareis a vós mesmos com nenhum tipo de coisa rastejante que se arrasta sobre a terra.45 Porque eu sou o SENHOR, que vos fiz sair da terra do Egito, para ser vosso Deus; portanto, vós sereis santos, porque eu sou santo.46 Esta é a lei dos animais, e das aves, e de toda criatura vivente que se move nas águas, e de toda criatura que se arrasta sobre a terra,47 para fazer uma diferença entre o impuro e o limpo, e entre os animais que podem ser comidos e os animais que não podem ser comidos.

1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them,2 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, These are the animals which you may eat among all the beasts of the earth:3 Among the beasts, whatever divides the hoof, being cloven and split, and bringing up the cud; that you may eat.4 Nevertheless these you shall not eat among those that bring up the cud or those that divide the hoof: the camel, because it brings up the cud but does not divide the hoof, is unclean to you;5 the hyrax, because it brings up the cud but does not divide the hoof, is unclean to you;6 the hare, because it brings up the cud but does not divide the hoof, is unclean to you;7 and the swine, though it divides the hoof, being cloven and split, yet does not bring up the cud, is unclean to you.8 Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you.9 These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers; that you may eat.10 But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that swarm in the water or any living creature which is in the water, they are detestable to you.11 They shall be detestable to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall detest their carcasses.12 Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales; it shall be detestable to you.13 And these you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are detestable: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard,14 the kite, and the falcon after its kind;15 every raven after its kind,16 the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk after its kind;17 the little owl, the cormorant, and the great horned owl;18 the white owl, the pelican, and the carrion vulture;19 the stork, the heron after its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.20 All flying creatures that swarm, going upon all fours shall be detestable to you.21 Yet these you may eat of every flying creature that swarms, going upon all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap upon the earth.22 These you may eat: the swarming locust after its kind, the locust after its kind, the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind.23 But all other flying creatures that swarm, having four feet shall be detestable to you.24 By these you shall become unclean; whoever touches the carcass of them shall be unclean until evening;25 whoever carries part of the carcass of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening:26 Any beast that divides the hoof, but is not cloven and split and does not bring up the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches it shall be unclean.27 And whatever goes on its paws, among all the animals that go on all fours, those are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until evening.28 Whoever carries their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. They are unclean to you.29 These also shall be unclean to you among the swarming things that swarm on the earth: the mole, the mouse, and the great lizard after its kind;30 the gecko, the monitor lizard, the sand reptile, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.31 These are unclean to you among all that swarm. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.32 Anything upon which any of them falls when they are dead is unclean, whether it is any item of wood or clothing or skin or sack, whatever item it is, in which work is done, it shall be put in water. And it shall be unclean until evening; then it shall be clean.33 Any earthen vessel into which any of them falls you shall break; and whatever is in it shall be unclean:34 in such a vessel, any edible food upon which water falls shall be unclean, and any drink that may be drunk from it shall be unclean.35 And everything on which any part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether it is an oven or cooking stove, it shall be broken down; for they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.36 Nevertheless a spring or a cistern, in which there is a collection of water, shall be clean, but whatever touches the carcass shall be unclean.37 And if any part of the carcass falls on any planting seed which is to be sown, it is clean.38 But if water is put on the seed, and if any part of the carcass has fallen on it, it shall be unclean to you.39 And if any beast which is for your food dies, he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until evening.40 He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.41 And every swarming thing that swarms on the earth shall be detestable. It shall not be eaten.42 Whatever goes on its belly, whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet among all swarming things that swarm on the earth; these you shall not eat, for they are detestable.43 You shall not make yourselves detestable with any swarming thing that swarms; nor shall you make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled by them.44 For I am Jehovah your God. You shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any swarming thing that swarms on the earth.45 For I am Jehovah who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.46 This is the law of the beasts and the flying creatures and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that swarms on the earth,47 to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animals that may be eaten and the animals that may not be eaten.
