1 E, quando eles se aproximaram de Jerusalém, de Betfagé e de Betânia, ao monte das Oliveiras, ele enviou dois dos seus discípulos,2 e disse-lhes: Ide pelo caminho à aldeia que está defronte de vós; e logo que nela entrardes, encontrareis amarrado um jumentinho, sobre o qual ainda não montou homem algum; desprendei-o, e trazei-o.3 E, se algum homem vos disser: Por que fazeis isso? Dizei-lhe que o Senhor necessita dele, e imediatamente ele o enviará para aqui.4 E eles foram pelo seu caminho, e encontraram o jumentinho amarrado à porta do lado de fora, entre dois caminhos, e o desprenderam.5 E alguns dos que ali estavam lhes disseram: O que fazeis, desprendendo o jumentinho?6 E eles responderam como Jesus lhes tinha mandado; e eles o deixaram ir.7 E eles trouxeram o jumentinho a Jesus, e lançaram sobre ele as suas vestes, e ele assentou-se sobre ele.8 E muitos estendiam as suas vestes pelo caminho, e outros cortavam ramos das árvores, e os espalhavam pelo caminho.9 E aqueles que iam adiante, e os que seguiam, clamavam, dizendo: Hosana, abençoado é o que vem em nome do Senhor;10 abençoado seja o reino do nosso pai Davi, que vem em nome do Senhor. Hosana nas alturas.11 E Jesus entrou em Jerusalém e no templo; e, olhando ao redor sobre todas as coisas; e chegando a tarde, saiu para Betânia com os doze.12 E, no dia seguinte, quando saíram de Betânia, ele teve fome;13 e, avistando de longe uma figueira que tinha folhas, foi ver se talvez pudesse encontrar nela alguma coisa; e, chegando até ela, nada encontrou senão folhas, porque ainda não era tempo de figos.14 E Jesus, respondendo, disse à figueira: Nenhum homem coma fruto de ti daqui em diante para sempre. E os seus discípulos ouviram isso.15 E vieram a Jerusalém; e Jesus entrou no templo, e começou a expulsar os que vendiam e compravam no templo, e derrubou as mesas dos cambistas, e as cadeiras dos que vendiam pombas;16 e não permitia que nenhum homem carregasse algum vaso pelo templo.17 E os ensinava, dizendo: Não está escrito: A minha casa será chamada por todas as nações casa de oração? Mas vós a tendes feito covil de ladrões.18 E os escribas e principais sacerdotes ouviram isso, e buscavam de que modo o destruiriam, pois o temiam, porque todo o povo estava admirado da sua doutrina.19 E, vindo a tarde, ele saiu da cidade.20 E de manhã, enquanto passavam, eles viram que a figueira tinha secado desde as raízes.21 E Pedro, chamando à lembrança, disse-lhe: Mestre, eis que a figueira, que tu amaldiçoaste, secou-se.22 E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhes: Tende fé em Deus.23 Porque na verdade eu vos digo que qualquer que disser a este monte: Ergue-te e lança-te no mar, e não duvidar em seu coração, mas crer que se fará aquilo que diz, assim lhe será feito.24 Portanto eu vos digo que todas as coisas que desejais, quando orardes, crede que as recebereis, e tê-las-eis.25 E, quando estiverdes orando, perdoai, se tendes alguma coisa contra alguém, para que também vosso Pai, que está no céu, possa perdoar as vossas transgressões.26 Mas, se vós não perdoardes, nem o vosso Pai que está no céu, perdoará as vossas transgressões.27 E eles foram novamente para Jerusalém; e, andando ele pelo templo, aproximaram-se dele os principais sacerdotes, os escribas e os anciãos,28 e lhe disseram: Com que autoridade tu fazes estas coisas? E quem te deu tal autoridade para fazer estas coisas?29 E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhes: Também eu vos farei uma pergunta, e respondei-me, e então vos direi com que autoridade eu faço estas coisas.30 O batismo de João era do céu ou dos homens? Respondei-me.31 E eles argumentavam entre si, dizendo: Se dissermos: Do céu, ele nos dirá: Por que então não acreditaste nele?32 Mas se dissermos: Dos homens; eles temeriam o povo; porque todos os homens verdadeiramente tinham a João como profeta.33 E, eles respondendo, disseram a Jesus: Nós não podemos dizer. E Jesus lhes respondeu: Nem eu vos digo com que autoridade faço estas coisas.

1 And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples;2 and said to them, Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it.3 And if anyone says to you, Why do you do this? say, The Lord has need of it, and immediately he will send it here.4 So they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they loosed it.5 But some of those who stood there said to them, What are you doing, loosing the colt?6 And they spoke to them just as Jesus had commanded. So they let them go.7 And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it.8 And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road.9 And those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!10 Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the Highest!11 And Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the temple. So when He had looked around at all things, as the hour was already late, He went out to Bethany with the twelve.12 And the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry.13 And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.14 And answering Jesus said to it, Let no one eat fruit from you ever again. And His disciples heard it.15 So they came to Jerusalem. And Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.16 And He would not allow anyone to carry any vessel through the temple.17 And He taught, saying to them, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it a den of thieves.18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the crowd was astonished at His doctrine.19 And when evening had come, He went out of the city.20 Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.21 And Peter, remembering, said to Him, Rabbi, behold, the fig tree which You cursed has withered away.22 And Jesus answered and said to them, Have faith in God.23 For truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will be done, it will be to him, whatever he says.24 Therefore I say to you, Everything whatever you ask when you pray, believe that you receive, and it will be to you.25 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive, that your Father in Heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in Heaven forgive your trespasses.27 And they came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him.28 And they said to Him, By what authority do You do these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?29 And Jesus answered and said to them, I also will ask you one question, and answer Me; and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:30 The immersion of John; was it from Heaven or from men? Answer Me.31 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we say, From Heaven, He will say, Why then did you not believe him?32 But if we say, From men; they feared the people, for all counted John to have truly been a prophet.33 So they answered and said to Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus answered and said to them, Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
