1 Agora ajunta-te em tropas, ó filha de tropas; há um cerco contra nós; ferirão ao juiz de Israel com uma vara no queixo.2 Mas tu, Belém Efrata, embora sejais pequena entre os milhares de Judá, de ti sairá para mim aquele que é governador em Israel, e cujas saídas tem sido desde os tempos antigos, desde a eternidade.3 Portanto, ele os entregará, até o tempo em que tiver dado à luz aquela que está de parto; então o restante de seus irmãos retornará aos filhos de Israel.4 E ele permanecerá e apascentará na força do SENHOR, na majestade do nome do SENHOR seu Deus; e habitarão, porque agora será engrandecido até aos confins da terra.5 E este homem será a paz; quando a Assíria vier à nossa terra, e quando pisar em nossos palácios, então levantaremos contra ela sete pastores e oito príncipes dentre os homens.6 E consumirão a terra da Assíria com a espada, e a terra de Ninrode nas suas entradas. Assim ele nos livrará da Assíria, quando vier à nossa terra, e quando pisar em nossas fronteiras.7 E o remanescente de Jacó estará no meio de muitas pessoas, como orvalho do SENHOR, como chuva sobre a grama, que não espera pelo homem, nem aguarda pelos filhos dos homens.8 E o remanescente de Jacó estará entre os gentios, no meio de muitas pessoas, como um leão entre os animais da floresta; como um leãozinho entre os rebanhos de ovelhas, o qual, quando passar, pisará e despedaçará, sem que haja quem as livre.9 A tua mão se exaltará sobre os teus adversários, e todos os teus inimigos serão exterminados.10 E acontecerá naquele dia, diz o SENHOR, que exterminarei do meio de ti os teus cavalos, e destruirei as tuas carruagens;11 e destruirei as cidades da tua terra, e derrubarei todas as tuas fortalezas;12 e exterminarei as feitiçarias da tua mão, e não terás mais adivinhadores;13 tuas imagens de escultura e as tuas estátuas também destruirei do meio de ti; e tu não mais adorarás o trabalho das tuas mãos.14 E arrancarei os teus bosques do meio de ti; assim eu destruirei as tuas cidades.15 E farei vingança com ira e furor sobre os pagãos, por não ouvirem.

1 Now gather yourself together in troops, O daughter of troops; he has laid siege against us. They shall strike the Judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.2 And you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are insignificant among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from the days of eternity.3 Therefore He will give them up until the time the one giving birth has given birth. Then the remnant of His brothers shall return to the sons of Israel.4 And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah His God. And they shall dwell, for now He shall be great to the ends of the earth.5 And this shall be peace. When Assyria shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then we shall raise against him seven shepherds and eight anointed men.6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at the entrances. Thus He shall deliver us from Assyria, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our borders.7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers on the grass, which does not wait for man, nor delay for the sons of men.8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who both tramples and tears in pieces if he passes through, and there is no one to deliver.9 Your hands shall be raised against your foes, and all your enemies shall be cut off.10 And it shall be in that day, that I will cut off your horses out of your midst, and I will destroy your chariots, declares Jehovah.11 And I will cut off the cities of your land and tear down all your fortresses.12 And I will cut off sorceries out of your hand, and there shall not be any more conjurers.13 And I will also cut off your graven images and your pillars from your midst. And you shall no more bow down to the work of your hands.14 And I will pluck your groves from your midst, and I will destroy your cities.15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury on the nations, such as they have not heard.
