1 Ouvi agora o que o SENHOR diz: Levanta-te, contende perante os montes, e ouçam as colinas a tua voz.2 Ouvi, ó montes, a acusação do SENHOR, e vós, fortes fundamentos da terra; pois o SENHOR tem uma acusação contra o seu povo, e com Israel entrará em juízo.3 Ó meu povo, o que fiz contigo? E com que te enfadei? Testifica contra mim.4 Pois te trouxe da terra do Egito, e te remi da casa da servidão; e enviei adiante de ti a Moisés, Arão e Miriã.5 Ó meu povo, lembra-te agora do que Balaque, rei de Moabe, consultou, e o que Balaão, filho de Beor, lhe respondeu, desde Sitim até Gilgal, para que tu conheças as justiças do SENHOR.6 Com que me apresentarei diante do SENHOR, e me inclinarei diante do Deus altíssimo? Deveria me apresentar diante dele com ofertas queimadas, e novilhos de um ano?7 O SENHOR se agradará de milhares de carneiros, ou de dez mil ribeiros de azeite? Darei o meu primogênito pela minha transgressão, o fruto do meu corpo pelo pecado da minha alma?8 Ele te declarou, ó homem, o que é bom; e o que o SENHOR pede de ti, senão que pratiques a justiça, ames a misericórdia, e andes humildemente com o teu Deus?9 A voz do SENHOR clama à cidade, e o homem sábio verá o teu nome. Ouvi a vara, e quem a designou.10 Ainda há na casa do ímpio tesouros da maldade, e medida escassa, que é abominável?11 Devo considerá-los puro com balanças falsas, e com bolsa de pesos enganosos?12 Pois os homens ricos estão cheios de violência, e seus habitantes falam mentiras, e a sua língua é enganosa na sua boca.13 Assim eu também te farei enfermo, ferindo-te, e assolando-te por causa dos teus pecados.14 Tu comerás, mas não te fartarás; e a tua humilhação estará no meio de ti; tomarás posse, mas não livrarás, e aquilo que livrares, eu o entregarei à espada.15 Tu semearás, mas não colherás; pisarás a azeitona, mas não ungirás a ti com azeite; espremerão uvas, mas não beberão o vinho.16 Pois obedecem os estatutos de Onri, e todas as obras da casa de Acabe, e andais em seus conselhos; para que eu te faça uma desolação, e de seus habitantes um assobio; assim suportarão a reprovação do meu povo.

1 Hear now what Jehovah says: Rise up, contend with the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.2 Mountains, and you enduring foundations of the earth, hear the contention of Jehovah, for Jehovah has a quarrel with His people, and He will argue with Israel.3 O My people, what have I done to you? And how have I made you weary? Testify against Me.4 For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of bondage; and I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam before you.5 My people, remember now what Balak, king of Moab, counseled; and what Balaam, the son of Beor, answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you may know the righteousness of Jehovah.6 With what shall I come before Jehovah, to bow myself before the loftiness of God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with yearling calves?7 Will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?8 O man, He has declared to you what is good. And what does Jehovah require of you, but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.9 The voice of Jehovah cries out to the city; and one of sound wisdom will see Your name. Hear the staff, and Him who appointed it.10 Are there yet in the house of the wicked the treasures of wickedness, and the abominable short ephah?11 Shall I declare to be pure the wicked balances, or the bag of deceitful weight stones?12 For her rich ones are full of violence, and her inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.13 Therefore I also will make you sick by striking you, making you desolate because of your sins.14 You shall eat, but not be satisfied, and your emptiness shall be in your midst; and you will move back, but shall not be safe; and that which you rescue, I will give to the sword.15 You shall sow, but you shall not reap; you shall tread the olive, but you shall not anoint yourselves with oil; and new wine, but shall not drink wine.16 For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab. And you walk in their counsels, so that I may make you a desolation, and your inhabitants a hissing. And you shall bear the reproach of My people.
