1 Ora, estes são os sacerdotes e os levitas que subiram com Zorobabel, o filho de Sealtiel, e Jesuá: Seraías, Jeremias, Esdras,2 Amarias, Maluque, Hatus,3 Secanias, Reum, Meremote,4 Ido, Ginetoi, Abias,5 Miamim, Maadias, Bilga,6 Semaías, e Joiaribe, Jedaías,7 Salu, Amoque, Hilquias e Jedaías. Estes foram os chefes dos sacerdotes e dos seus irmãos nos dias de Jesuá.8 Além disso, os levitas: Jesuá, Binui, Cadmiel, Serebias, Judá e Matanias que com seus irmãos estavam encarregados de dar graças.9 Além disso, Baquebuquias e Uni, os seus irmãos, estavam defronte deles nas guardas.10 E Jesuá gerou Joiaquim, e Joiaquim gerou Eliasibe, e Eliasibe gerou Joiada,11 e Joiada gerou Jônatas, e Jônatas gerou Jadua.12 E nos dias de Joiaquim foram sacerdotes, os chefes dos pais; de Seraías, Meraías; de Jeremias, Hananias;13 e Esdras, Mesulão; de Amarias, Joanã;14 de Maluqui, Jônatas; de Sebanias, José;15 de Harim, Adna; de Meraiote, Helcai;16 de Ido, Zacarias; de Ginetom, Mesulão;17 de Abias, Zicri; de Miniamim, de Moadias, Piltai;18 de Bilga, Samua; de Semaías, Jônatas;19 e de Joiaribe, Matenai; de Jedaías, Uzi;20 de Salai, Calai; de Amoque, Héber;21 de Hilquias, Hasabias; de Jedaías, Netanel.22 Dos levitas nos dias de Eliasibe, Joiada, e Jonã, e Jadua, foram registrados chefes dos pais; também os sacerdotes, para o reinado de Dario, o persa.23 Os filhos de Levi, os chefes dos pais, estavam escritos no livro das Crônicas, até os dias de Joanã, o filho de Eliasibe.24 E o chefe dos levitas: Hasabias, Serebias e Jesuá, o filho de Cadmiel, com os seus irmãos diante deles, para louvar e dar graças, segundo o mandamento de Davi, o homem de Deus, guarda contra guarda.25 Matanias, Baquebuquias, Obadias, Mesulão, Talmom e Acube, foram porteiros mantendo a guarda nas soleiras dos portões.26 Estes foram nos dias de Joaquim, o filho de Jesuá, o filho de Jozadaque, e nos dias de Neemias, o governador, e do sacerdote Esdras, o escriba.27 E na dedicação da muralha de Jerusalém eles buscaram os levitas de todos os seus lugares, para trazê-los a Jerusalém, para celebrar a dedicação com alegria, com ações de graças, e com cânticos, com címbalos, saltérios e com harpas.28 E os filhos dos cantores se reuniram, tanto da planície ao redor de Jerusalém, quando das aldeias de Netofatitas;29 também da casa de Gilgal, e dos campos de Gibeá e Azmavete; porquanto os cantores tinham edificado para si aldeias ao redor de Jerusalém.30 E os sacerdotes e os levitas se purificaram, e purificaram o povo, e os portões, e a muralha.31 Então, eu trouxe os príncipes de Judá ao alto da muralha, e constituí duas grandes companhias para dar graças, das quais uma seguiu pelo lado direito da muralha em direção ao portão do esterco;32 e depois deles, vieram Hosaías, e a metade dos príncipes de Judá,33 e Azarias, Esdras, Mesulão,34 Judá, e Benjamim, e Semaías e Jeremias,35 e alguns dos filhos dos sacerdotes com trombetas; a saber, Zacarias, o filho de Jônatas, o filho de Semaías, o filho de Matanias, o filho de Micaías, o filho de Zacur, o filho de Asafe;36 e os seus irmãos, Semaías, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Netanel, Judá e Hanani, com os instrumentos musicais de Davi, o homem de Deus, e Esdras, o escriba, adiante deles.37 E na porta da fonte, a qual estava defronte deles, subiram as escadas da cidade de Davi, onde começa a subida da muralha, desde cima da casa de Davi, até o portão das águas na parte leste.38 E a outra companhia que dava graças seguia em direção a eles, e eu depois deles, e a metade do povo sobre a muralha, desde além da torre das fornalhas até a muralha larga;39 e do alto do portão de Efraim, e do alto do portão velho, e do alto do portão do peixe, e da torre de Hananeel, e da torre de Meá, até o portão das ovelhas; e eles pararam no portão da prisão.40 Assim se puseram em pé as duas companhias que davam graças na casa de Deus, como também eu, e a metade dos governantes comigo,41 e os sacerdotes: Eliaquim, Maaseias, Miniamim, Micaías, Elioenai, Zacarias e Hananias, com as trombetas;42 e Maaseias, e Semaías, e Eleazar, e Uzi, e Joanã, e Malquias, e Elão, e Ezer. E os cantores cantaram em voz alta, com Jezraías, o seu supervisor.43 Além disso, naquele dia eles ofereceram grandes sacrifícios, e se regozijaram; porque Deus havia feito com que eles se regozijassem com grande alegria; também as esposas e os filhos se regozijaram; de modo que a alegria de Jerusalém se ouviu de longe.44 E, naquele tempo, alguns foram indicados sobre as câmaras para os tesouros, para as ofertas, para os primeiros frutos, e para os dízimos, para nelas ajuntar, dos campos das cidades, as porções da lei para os sacerdotes e levitas; porque Judá se regozijava pelos sacerdotes e pelos levitas que serviam.45 E, tanto os cantores, como os porteiros, mantinham a guarda do seu Deus, e a guarda da purificação, de acordo com o mandamento de Davi, e de seu filho Salomão.46 Porque nos dias de Davi e Asafe, desde a antiguidade, havia chefes dos cantores, e cânticos de louvor e ações de graças a Deus.47 E todo o Israel, nos dias de Zorobabel, e nos dias de Neemias, davam aos cantores e aos porteiros as porções de cada dia; e eles santificavam coisas santas aos levitas; e os levitas as santificavam para os filhos de Arão.

1 Now these are the priests and the Levites who came up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,2 Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,3 Shechaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,4 Iddo, Ginnethon, Abijah,5 Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,6 Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah,7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. These were the heads of the priests and their brethren in the days of Jeshua.8 Moreover the Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah who led the songs of praise, he and his brethren.9 Also Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, stood next to them in their service.10 Jeshua begot Joiakim, Joiakim begot Eliashib, Eliashib begot Joiada,11 Joiada begot Jonathan, and Jonathan begot Jaddua.12 Now in the days of Joiakim, the priests, the heads of the fathers were: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;13 of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;14 of Malluch, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;15 of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;16 of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;17 of Abijah, Zichri; the son of Minjamin of Moadiah, Piltai;18 of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;19 of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;20 of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;21 of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; and of Jedaiah, Nethanel.22 During the reign of Darius the Persian, a record was also kept of the Levites and priests who had been heads of their fathers in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua.23 The sons of Levi, the heads of the fathers until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib, were written in the book of the chronicles.24 And the heads of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers next to them, to praise and give thanks, group next to group, according to the command of David the man of God.25 Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers keeping the watch at the thresholds of the gates.26 These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.27 Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to attend to the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgiving and singing, with cymbals and lutes and harps.28 And the sons of the singers gathered together from the countryside around Jerusalem, from the villages of Netophah,29 from the house of Gilgal, and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth; for the singers had built themselves villages all around Jerusalem.30 Then the priests and Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, the gates, and the wall.31 So I brought the rulers of Judah up on the wall, and stationed two large thanksgiving choirs. One went to the right hand on the wall toward the Refuse Gate.32 Following behind them went Hoshaiah and half of the rulers of Judah,33 and Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam,34 Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah,35 and some of the priests’ sons with trumpets; Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph,36 and his brethren, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, with the instruments of song of David the man of God. And Ezra the scribe went before them.37 And at the Fountain Gate across from them, they went up the stairs of the City of David, at the ascent of the wall above the house of David, as far as the Water Gate eastward.38 And the other thanksgiving choir went the opposite way, and I followed behind them with half of the people on the wall, going past the Tower of the Ovens as far as the Broad Wall,39 and above the Gate of Ephraim, above the Old Gate, above the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel, the Tower of Meah, as far as the Sheep Gate; and they stood still by the Gate of the Prison.40 So the two thanksgiving choirs stood in the house of God, likewise I and half the rulers with me;41 and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Minjamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;42 also Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. The singers sang aloud with Jezrahiah as their overseer.43 Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even at a distance.44 And at the same time some were appointed over the rooms of the storehouse for the offerings, the firstfruits, and the tithes, to gather into them from the fields of the cities the portions specified by the Law for the priests and Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests and Levites who ministered.45 Both the singers and the gatekeepers kept the charge of their God and the charge of the purification, according to the command of David and Solomon his son.46 For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were heads of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.47 In the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah all Israel gave the portions for the singers and the gatekeepers, a portion for each day. They also consecrated holy things for the Levites, and the Levites consecrated them for the sons of Aaron.
