1 Do homem são as preparações do coração, mas do ­SENHOR a resposta da língua.2 Todos os caminhos do homem são puros aos seus próprios olhos, mas o ­SENHOR pesa os espíritos.3 Confia tuas obras ao ­SENHOR, e os teus pensamentos serão estabelecidos.4 O ­SENHOR fez todas as coisas para si; sim, até o perverso para o dia do mal.5 Todo aquele que é orgulhoso de coração é abominação ao ­SENHOR; não ficará impune mesmo de mãos postas.6 Pela misericórdia e verdade a iniquidade é purificada, e pelo temor do ­SENHOR os homens se apartam do mal.7 Quando os caminhos de um homem agradam ao ­SENHOR, ele faz até mesmo seus inimigos estarem em paz com ele.8 Melhor é o pouco com justiça, do que grandes rendas sem direito.9 O coração do homem planeja o seu caminho, mas o ­SENHOR direciona os seus passos.10 Nos lábios do rei está a sentença divina; a sua boca não transgride em julgamento.11 O peso justo e a balança são do ­SENHOR; todos os pesos da bolsa são sua obra.12 É abominação aos reis cometerem perversidade, porque o trono é estabelecido pela justiça.13 Lábios justos são o deleite dos reis; e eles amam aquele que fala o certo.14 A ira de um rei é como mensageiros da morte, mas um homem sábio a pacificará.15 Na luz do semblante de um rei está a vida, e o seu favor é como uma nuvem da chuva serôdia.16 Quão melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o ouro! E adquirir entendimento em vez de se escolher a prata!17 A estrada do reto é desviar-se do mal; aquele que guarda o seu caminho preserva a sua alma.18 O orgulho precede a destruição, e o espírito altivo precede a queda.19 Melhor é ser de espírito humilde com os mansos, do que dividir o despojo com os orgulhosos.20 Aquele que lida sabiamente com um assunto encontrará o bem, e o que confia no ­SENHOR, feliz é ele.21 O sábio de coração será chamado de prudente, e a doçura dos lábios aumenta o aprendizado.22 O entendimento é uma fonte de vida para aquele que o possui, mas a instrução dos tolos é a loucura.23 O coração do sábio ensina a sua boca, e acrescenta o aprendizado aos seus lábios.24 Palavras agradáveis são como um favo de mel, doce para a alma, e saúde para os ossos.25 Há um caminho que ao homem parece direito, mas o seu fim são os caminhos da morte.26 O trabalhador trabalha para si mesmo, porque a sua boca lhe implora por isso.27 O homem ímpio cava o mal, e nos seus lábios há um fogo ardente.28 O homem perverso semeia a contenda, e o sussurrante separa os maiores amigos.29 Um homem violento incita o seu vizinho, e o leva para o caminho que não é bom.30 Ele fecha os seus olhos para imaginar coisas perversas; movendo seus lábios, ele efetua o mal.31 A cabeça grisalha é uma coroa de glória, se for encontrada no caminho da justiça.32 Aquele que é tardio em se irar é melhor do que o poderoso, e o que domina o seu espírito do que aquele que toma uma cidade.33 A sorte é lançada no colo, mas sua total disposição é do ­SENHOR.

1 The arrangement of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, are from Jehovah.2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but Jehovah weighs the spirits.3 Roll your works upon Jehovah, and your thoughts will be established.4 Jehovah has made all things for a witness; yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah; though hand join in hand, he shall not go unpunished.6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of Jehovah men turn away from evil.7 When a man’s ways please Jehovah, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenue without justice.9 A man’s heart devises his way, but Jehovah arranges his steps.10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth does not transgress in judgment.11 A just weight and balance are Jehovah’s; all the weight stones of the bag are His work.12 It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness; for the throne is established by righteousness.13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him who speaks what is right.14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death, but a wise man will appease it.15 In the light of the king’s face is life, and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.16 How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver!17 The way of the upright is to turn away from evil; he who keeps his way guards his soul.18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.19 It is better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoils with the proud.20 He who handles a matter wisely shall find good, and whoever trusts in Jehovah, happy is he.21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent, and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.22 Understanding is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the correction of fools is folly.23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.25 There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death.26 He who labors, labors for himself, for his mouth craves it of him.27 A worthless man digs up evil, and his lips are like a burning fire.28 A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates intimate friends.29 A violent man entices his neighbor, and makes him go in a way that is not good.30 He shuts his eyes to invent perverse things; pursing his lips he brings evil to pass.31 The gray head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness.32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.33 The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposition of it is from Jehovah.
