1 A sabedoria edificou a sua casa, já lavrou os seus sete pilares,2 já matou os seus animais; misturou o seu vinho; e já preparou a sua mesa.3 Já enviou suas criadas, ela clama dos lugares mais altos da cidade:4 Quem quer que seja simples, que se volte para cá; quanto àquele que carece de entendimento, ela lhe diz:5 Vem, come do meu pão, e bebe do vinho que eu tenho misturado.6 Abandonai os tolos e vivei; e ide pelo caminho do entendimento.7 Aquele que reprova o escarnecedor adquire vergonha para si; e o que repreende o homem ímpio adquire para si uma mancha.8 Não reproves o escarnecedor, para que ele não te odeie; repreende o homem sábio, e ele te amará.9 Dá instrução ao homem sábio, e ele será ainda mais sábio; ensina o homem justo e ele aumentará em entendimento.10 O temor do ­SENHOR é o princípio da sabedoria, e o conhecimento do santo é o entendimento.11 Porque por meu intermédio teus dias serão multiplicados, e anos da tua vida se aumentarão.12 Se fores sábio, para ti serás sábio; mas se escarneceres, somente tu o suportarás.13 A mulher tola é espalhafatosa, ela é simples e nada sabe.14 Porque ela se assenta à porta de sua casa, sobre uma cadeira nos lugares altos da cidade,15 para chamar os passageiros que andam correto em seus caminhos:16 Quem é simples, volte-se para cá; e quanto àquele que carece de entendimento, ela lhe diz:17 As águas roubadas são doces, e o pão comido em secreto é agradável.18 Mas ele não sabe que os mortos estão lá, e que seus convidados estão nas profundezas do inferno.

1 Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out her seven pillars;2 she has slaughtered her meat; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table.3 She has sent out her maidens; she calls out from the highest places of the city:4 Whoever is simple, turn in here; and to the one lacking heart, she says to him:5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine that I have mixed.6 Forsake simplicity, and live; and go in the way of understanding.7 He who reproves a scorner gets shame to himself; and he who rebukes a wicked man gets himself a blemish.8 Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.9 Give to a wise one, and he will become wiser; teach a just one, and he will increase in learning.10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.11 For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.12 If you are wise, you shall be wise for yourself, and if you scorn, you alone shall bear it.13 A foolish woman is boisterous; she is naive, and knows nothing.14 And she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,15 to call out to those who pass by, who are going straight on their ways:16 Whoever is simple, let him turn in here; and to the one lacking heart, she says to him:17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.18 But he does not know that the spirits of the dead are there; the ones she summons are in the depths of Sheol.
