1 Masquil de Asafe. Ó Deus, por que nos rejeita para sempre? Por que a tua ira fumega contra as ovelhas do teu pasto?2 Lembra da tua congregação, a qual compraste na antiguidade; da vara da tua herança, que tu redimiste; este monte Sião, onde tu habitaste.3 Eleva os teus pés às desolações perpétuas; até mesmo todas aquelas que o inimigo fez perversamente no santuário.4 Teus inimigos rugem no meio de tuas congregações; eles exibem suas insígnias por sinais.5 Um homem foi famoso de acordo com os machados que ele havia levantado sobre espessas árvores.6 Mas agora eles quebram sua obra esculpida de uma só vez, com machados e martelos.7 Eles lançaram fogo em teu santuário, eles corromperam até o chão a morada do teu nome.8 Eles disseram em seus corações: Juntos vamos destruí-los; eles queimaram todas as sinagogas de Deus na terra.9 Não vemos nossos sinais; não há mais nenhum profeta, nem há entre nós o que saiba por quanto tempo.10 Ó Deus, por quanto tempo o adversário nos envergonhará? Blasfemará o inimigo o teu nome para sempre?11 Por que retiras a tua mão, até a tua mão direita? Arranca-a do teu peito.12 Pois Deus é o meu Rei desde a antiguidade, operando a salvação no meio da terra.13 Tu dividiste o mar pela tua força; tu quebraste as cabeças dos dragões nas águas.14 Tu quebraste em pedaços as cabeças do leviatã, e o deste para ser alimento do povo que habitava no deserto.15 Tu fendeste a fonte e a enchente; tu secaste poderosos rios.16 O dia é teu, a noite também é tua; tu preparaste a luz e o sol.17 Tu determinaste todas as fronteiras da terra; fizeste o verão e o inverno.18 Lembra disto: que o inimigo te envergonhou, ó SENHOR, e que os tolos blasfemaram o teu nome.19 Ó não entregues a alma da tua rola à multidão dos perversos; não esqueças para sempre a congregação dos teus pobres.20 Tem respeito pelo pacto, pois os lugares escuros da terra estão cheios das habitações da crueldade.21 Não deixes que o oprimido retorne envergonhado; que o pobre e o necessitado louvem o teu nome.22 Levanta-te, ó Deus, pleiteia pela tua própria causa; lembra-te de como o tolo te envergonha diariamente.23 Não esqueças a voz dos teus inimigos; o tumulto daqueles que se levantam contra ti aumenta continuamente.

1 O God, have You cast us off forever? Will Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?2 Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, the scepter of Your inheritance which You have redeemed; this mount Zion in which You have dwelt.3 Lift up Your feet to the perpetual desolations, even all the evil the enemy has done in the sanctuary.4 Your enemies roar in the midst of Your meeting place; they set up their banners for signs.5 They are known for bringing their axes against the thick trees.6 And now all its engravings they strike down with axes and hammers.7 They have set fire to Your sanctuary; they have defiled to the ground the dwelling place of Your name.8 They said in their hearts, Together let us violently oppress them. They have burned up all the meeting places of the Mighty God in the land.9 We do not see our signs; there is no prophet any more; neither is there among us any who knows how long.10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever?11 Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? From your bosom, draw it out of Your bosom and exterminate them.12 For God is my King of old, working deliverance in the midst of the earth.13 You have divided the sea by Your strength; You have broken the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.14 You have crushed the heads of leviathan, and given him to be food to the people living in the wilderness.15 You have cleaved open the fountain and the flood; You have dried up mighty rivers.16 The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.17 You have established all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter.18 Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O Jehovah, and that the foolish people have blasphemed Your name.19 O do not deliver the soul of Your turtle dove to the beasts; forget not the community of Your lowly forever.20 Have regard to the covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of the abode of violence.21 O let not the oppressed return ashamed; let the lowly and needy praise Your name.22 Arise, O God, plead Your own case; remember the daily reproaches of the fool.23 Forget not the voice of Your enemies; the roar of those who rise up against You continually increases.
