1 Salmo de Asafe. Ó Deus, os pagãos chegaram à tua herança; teu santo templo eles contaminaram; eles reduziram Jerusalém a montões.2 Os cadáveres dos teus servos eles deram para que servissem de alimento para as aves do céu, a carne dos teus santos aos animais da terra.3 Seu sangue eles derramaram como água ao redor de Jerusalém; e não houve ninguém que os enterrasse.4 Nos tornamos uma vergonha para nossos vizinhos, um desdém e um escárnio para aqueles que nos cercam.5 Por quanto tempo, SENHOR? Ficarás zangado para sempre? Queimará o teu ciúme como o fogo?6 Derrama a tua ira sobre os pagãos que não conheceram a ti, e sobre os reinos que não chamaram o teu nome.7 Pois eles devoraram Jacó, e devastaram sua habitação.8 Não te lembres contra nós iniquidades passadas; que as tuas tenras misericórdias nos impeçam rapidamente; pois fomos levados para muito baixo.9 Ajuda-nos, ó Deus da nossa salvação, para a glória do teu nome; livra-nos, purga os nossos pecados, por causa do teu nome.10 Portanto diriam os pagãos: Onde está o seu Deus? Seja ele conhecido entre os pagãos à nossa vista, pela vingança do sangue dos teus servos que é derramado.11 Venha diante de ti os suspiros do prisioneiro; segundo a grandeza do teu poder, preserva aqueles que são designados para morrer;12 e retribui aos nossos vizinhos sete vezes no seu peito a sua vergonha, com a qual eles te envergonharam, ó Senhor.13 Assim nós, teu povo e ovelhas do teu pasto, daremos graças para sempre; mostraremos o teu louvor a todas as gerações.

1 O God, the nations have come into Your inheritance; Your holy temple they have defiled; they have laid Jerusalem in heaps.2 The dead bodies of Your servants they have given as food for the birds of the heavens, the flesh of Your saints to the beasts of the earth.3 Their blood they have shed like water all around Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.4 We have become a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to those who are around us.5 How long, Jehovah? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire?6 Pour out Your wrath upon the nations that have not known You, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon Your name.7 For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.8 Oh, do not remember our former iniquities against us! Let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us, for we have been brought very low.9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; and rescue us, and make atonement for our sins, for Your name’s sake!10 Why should the nations say, Where is their God? Let it be known among the nations in our sight, the avenging of the blood of Your servants which has been shed.11 Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; according to the greatness of Your power preserve alive the children of death;12 and return upon our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached You, O Lord.13 So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, will continually give You thanks; we will show forth Your praise from generation to generation.
