19 When the disciples had rowed for five or six kilometers, they saw Jesus walking on the water. He kept coming closer to the boat, and they were terrified. 20 But he said, "I am Jesus!6.20 I am Jesus: The Greek text has "I am" (see the note at 8.24). Don’t be afraid!" 21 The disciples wanted to take him into the boat, but suddenly the boat reached the shore where they were headed.
