Daniel 12

1 At that time

Michael 12:1 Dn 10:13,21; Jd 9; Rv 12:7 the great prince

who stands watch over your people, will rise up.

There will be time of distress  12:1 Mt 24:21; Mk 13:19

such as never has occurred  12:1 Jr 30:7; Ezk 5:9; Dn 9:12

since nations came into being until that time 12:1 Rv 16:18

But at that time all your people

who are found written in the book  12:1 Dn 7:10; 10:21; Rv 20:12 will escape 12:1 Php 4:3; Rv 20:12; 21:27

2 Many who sleep in the dust  12:2 Is 26:19; Ezk 37:12–14

of the earth will awake,

some to eternal life 12:2 Mt 25:46; Jn 5:28–29

and some to disgrace and eternal contempt 12:2 Is 66:24

3 Those who have insight will shine

like the bright expanse of the heavens 12:3 Gn 1:6; Ps 19:1; Jn 5:35

and those who lead many to righteousness 12:3 Is 53:11; Dn 11:33

like the stars forever and ever.

4 "But you, Daniel, keep these words secret  12:4 Dn 8:26; 12:9; Rv 10:4 and seal the book  12:4 Is 8:16; Jr 32:9–12; Rv 22:10 until the time of the end 12:4 Dn 8:17; 12:9,13 Many will roam about 12:4 2Ch 16:9; Jr 5:1; Am 8:12 and knowledge will increase. 12:4 LXX reads and the earth will be filled with unrighteousness

5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and two others were standing there, one on this bank of the river and one on the other. 6 One of them said to the man dressed in linen 12:6 Ezk 9:2; Dn 10:5 who was above the water of the river 12:6 Dn 8:16 "How long until the end  12:6 Dn 8:13; Mt 24:3; Mk 13:4 of these wondrous things" 7 Then I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the water of the river. He raised both his hands  12:7 Lit raised his right and his left, 12:7 Ezk 20:5; Rv 10:5–6 toward heaven and swore by him who lives eternally  12:7 Dn 4:34 that it would be for a time, times, and half a time 12:7 Dn 7:25; Rv 11:2; 12:14 When the power of the holy people is shattered, all these things will be completed.

8 I heard but did not understand. So I asked, "My lord, what will be the outcome of these things 12:8 1Th 5:10; 2Pt 3:10–14

9 He said, "Go on your way, Daniel, for the words are secret  12:9 Rv 10:4 and sealed until the time of the end 12:9 Dn 12:410 Many will be purified 12:10 Zch 13:9; Ac 1:6–7; 2Th 2:7–12 cleansed, and refined 12:10 Dn 11:35 but the wicked will act wickedly 12:10 Is 32:6–7; Rv 22:11 none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand 12:10 Dn 12:3; Hs 14:9; Jn 7:17; 8:4711 From the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation  12:11 Dn 9:27 is set up 12:11 Dn 11:31; Mt 24:15; Mk 13:14 there will be 1,290 days. 12 Happy is the one who waits  12:12 Is 30:18 for and reaches 1,335 days. 13 But as for you, go on your way to the end 12:13 LXX omits to the end you will rest, and then you will rise  12:13 Or stand to receive  12:13 Is 57:2; Rv 14:13 your allotted inheritance at the end of the days."
