16 He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. 4:16 Lk 2:39,51 As usual, he entered the synagogue on the Sabbath day 4:16 Mt 13:54; Mk 6:1–2 and stood up to read. 4:16 Ac 13:14–1617 The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him, and unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written:
20 He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. 4:20 Mt 26:55 And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

And as he unfolded the book, he found the place where it was written: 20 And when he had folded the book, he restored it to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.
16-21 He came to Nazareth where he had been raised. As he always did on the Sabbath, he went to the meeting place. When he stood up to read, he was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,
God’s Spirit is on me;
he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor,
Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and
recovery of sight to the blind,
To set the burdened and battered free,
to announce, "This is God’s time to shine!"
He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the assistant, and sat down. Every eye in the place was on him, intent. Then he started in, "You’ve just heard Scripture make history. It came true just now in this place."
