The Beatitudes

3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit,* 5:3 Is 57:15; 66:2

for the kingdom of heaven* 5:3 Mt 19:14; 25:34; Mk 10:14; Lk 6:20is theirs.

4 Blessed are those who mourn,* 5:4 Is 61:2; Mt 11:29; 21:5; Jn 16:20; Rv 7:17

for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the humble,* 5:5 Ps 37:11; Rm 4:13; Rv 21:7

for they will inherit the earth.
