Romans 5

3 And not only that,  * 5:3 Rm 5:11; 8:23; 9:10; 2Co 8:19 but we also boast in our afflictions,  * 5:3 Mt 5:12; Jms 1:2–3 because we know that affliction produces endurance,  * 5:3 Lk 21:194 endurance produces proven character,  * 5:4 Php 2:22; Jms 1:12 and proven character produces hope. 5 This hope will not disappoint us,  * 5:5 Ps 119:116; Rm 9:33; Heb 6:18–20 because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts  * 5:5 Ac 2:33; 10:45; Gl 4:6; Ti 3:6 through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
