20 For the creation was subjected 8:20 Gn 3:17–19 to futility 8:20 Ps 39:5; Ec 1:2 — not willingly, but because of him who subjected it 8:20 Gn 3:17; 5:29 — in the hope 21 that the creation itself 8:21 Ac 3:21; 2Pt 3:13; Rv 21:1 will also be set free from the bondage to decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.
