And Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 
This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. 
Speak unto all the assembly of Israel, saying, On the tenth of this month let them take themselves each a lamb, for a father's house, a lamb for a house. 
And if the household be too small for a lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take {it} according to the number of the souls; each according to {the measure} of his eating shall ye count for the lamb. 
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a yearling male; ye shall take {it} from the sheep, or from the goats. 
And ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; and the whole congregation of the assembly of Israel shall kill it between the two evenings. 
And they shall take of the blood, and put {it} on the two door-posts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. 
And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter {herbs} shall they eat it. 
Ye shall eat none of it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roast with fire; its head with its legs and with its in-wards. 
And ye shall let none of it remain until the morning; and what remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. 
And thus shall ye eat it: your loins shall be girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste; it is Jehovah's passover. 
And I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am Jehovah. 
And the blood shall be for you as a sign on the houses in which ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be among you for destruction, when I smite the land of Egypt. 
And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall celebrate it {as} a feast to Jehovah; throughout your generations {as} an ordinance for ever shall ye celebrate it. 
Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread: on the very first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses; for whoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day-that soul shall be cut off from Israel. 
And on the first day ye shall have a holy convocation, and on the seventh day a holy convocation: no manner of work shall be done on them, save what is eaten by every person-that only shall be done by you. 
And ye shall keep the {feast of} unleavened {bread}; for in this same day have I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt; and ye shall keep this day in your generations {as} an ordinance for ever. 
In the first {month}, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, ye shall eat unleavened bread until the one and twentieth day of the month in the evening. 
Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses; for whoever eateth what is leavened-that soul shall be cut off from the assembly of Israel, whether he be a sojourner, or born in the land. 
Ye shall eat nothing leavened: in all your dwellings shall ye eat unleavened bread. 
And Moses called all the elders of Israel, and said to them, Seize and take yourselves lambs for your families, and kill the passover. 
And take a bunch of hyssop, and dip {it} in the blood that is in the bason, and smear the lintel and the two door-posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning. 
And Jehovah will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel, and on the two door-posts, Jehovah will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come into your houses to smite {you}. 
And ye shall observe this as an ordinance for thee and for thy sons for ever. 
And it shall come to pass, when ye are come into the land that Jehovah will give you, as he has promised, that ye shall keep this service. 
And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say to you, What mean ye by this service? 
that ye shall say, It is a sacrifice of passover to Jehovah, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when he smote the Egyptians and delivered our houses. And the people bowed their heads and worshipped. 
And the children of Israel went away, and did as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron; so did they. 
And it came to pass that at midnight Jehovah smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle. 
And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his bondmen, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house in which there was not one dead. 
And he called Moses and Aaron in the night, and said, Rise up, go away from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve Jehovah, as ye have said. 
Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and go; and bless me also. 
And the Egyptians urged the people, to send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We are all dead {men}! 
And the people took their dough before it was leavened; their kneading-troughs bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. 
And the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked of the Egyptians utensils of silver, and utensils of gold, and clothing. 
And Jehovah had given the people favour in the eyes of the Egyptians, and they gave to them; and they spoiled the Egyptians. 
And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot {that were} men, besides children. 
And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks and herds-very much cattle. 
And they baked the dough that they brought forth out of Egypt into unleavened cakes, for it was not leavened; for they were driven out of Egypt, and could not wait; neither had they prepared for themselves any food. 
And the residence of the children of Israel that they resided in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years. 
And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, on that same day it came to pass that all the hosts of Jehovah went out from the land of Egypt. 
It is a night of observance to Jehovah, because of their being brought out from the land of Egypt: that same night is an observance to Jehovah for all the children of Israel in their generations. 
And Jehovah said to Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: No stranger shall eat of it; 
but every man's bondman that is bought for money-let him be circumcised: then shall he eat it. 
A settler and a hired servant shall not eat it. 
In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth any of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. 
All the assembly of Israel shall hold it. 
And when a sojourner sojourneth with thee, and would hold the passover to Jehovah, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and hold it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land; but no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. 
One law shall be for him that is home-born and for the sojourner that sojourneth among you. 
And all the children of Israel did as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron; so did they. 
And it came to pass on that same day, {that} Jehovah brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt according to their hosts. 

Domnul a zis lui Moise şi lui Aaron în ţara Egiptului: 
,,Luna aceasta va fi pentru voi cea dintîi lună; ea va fi pentru voi cea dintîi lună a anului. 
Vorbiţi întregei adunări a lui Israel, şi spuneţi -i: ,În ziua a zecea a acestei luni, fiecare om să ia un miel de fiecare familie, un miel de fiecare casă. 
Dacă sînt prea puţini în casă pentru un miel, să -l ia cu vecinul lui cel mai de aproape, după numărul sufletelor; să faceţi socoteala cît poate mînca fiecare din mielul acesta. 
Să fie un miel fără cusur, de parte bărbătească, de un an; veţi putea să luaţi un miel sau un ied. 
Să -l păstraţi pînă în ziua a patrusprezecea a lunii acesteia; şi toată adunarea lui Israel să -l junghie seara. 
Să ia din sîngele lui, şi să ungă amîndoi stîlpii uşii şi pragul de sus al caselor unde îl vor mînca. 
Carnea s'o mănînce chiar în noaptea aceea, friptă la foc; şi anume s'o mănînce cu azimi şi cu verdeţuri amare. 
Să nu -l mîncaţi crud sau fiert în apă; ci să fie fript la foc: atît capul, cît şi picioarele şi măruntaiele. 
Să nu lăsaţi nimic din el pînă a doua zi dimineaţa; şi, dacă va rămînea ceva din el pe a doua zi dimineaţa, să -l ardeţi în foc. 
Cînd îl veţi mînca, să aveţi mijlocul încins, încălţămintele în picioare, şi toiagul în mînă; şi să -l mîncaţi în grabă; căci sînt Paştele Domnului. 
În noaptea aceea, Eu voi trece prin ţara Egiptului, şi voi lovi pe toţi întîii-născuţi din ţara Egiptului, dela oameni pînă la dobitoace; şi voi face judecată împrotiva tuturor zeilor Egiptului; Eu, Domnul. 
Sîngele vă va sluji ca semn pe casele unde veţi fi. Eu voi vedea sîngele, şi voi trece pe lîngă voi, aşa că nu vă va nimici nici o urgie, atunci cînd voi lovi ţara Egiptului. 
Şi pomenirea acestei zile s'o păstraţi, şi s'o prăznuiţi printr'o sărbătoare în cinstea Domnului; s'o prăznuiţi ca o lege vecinică pentru urmaşii voştri. 
Timp de şapte zile, veţi mînca azimi. Din cea dintîi zi veţi scoate aluatul din casele voastre: căci oricine va mînca pîne dospită, din ziua întîi pînă în ziua a şaptea, va fi nimicit din Israel. 
În ziua dintîi veţi avea o adunare de sărbătoare sfîntă; şi în ziua a şaptea, veţi avea o adunare de sărbătoare sfîntă. Să nu faceţi nici o muncă în zilele acelea; veţi putea numai să pregătiţi mîncarea fiecărui ins. 
Să ţineţi sărbătoarea azimilor, căci chiar în ziua aceea voi scoate oştile voastre din ţara Egiptului; să ţineţi ziua aceea ca o lege vecinică pentru urmaşii voştri. 
În luna întîi, din a patrusprezecea zi a lunii, seara, să mîncaţi azimi, pînă în seara zilei a douăzeci şi una a lunii. 
Timp de şapte zile, să nu se găsească aluat în casele voastre; căci oricine va mînca pîne dospită, va fi nimicit din adunarea lui Israel, fie străin, fie băştinaş. 
Să nu mîncaţi pîne dospită; ci, în toate locuinţele voastre, să mîncaţi azimi.`` 
Moise a chemat pe toţi bătrînii lui Israel, şi le -a zis: ,,Duceţi-vă de luaţi un miel pentru familiile voastre, şi junghiaţi Paştele. 
Să luaţi apoi un mănunchi de isop, să -l muiaţi în sîngele din strachină, şi să ungeţi pragul de sus şi cei doi stîlpi ai uşii cu sîngele din strachină. Nimeni din voi să nu iasă din casă pînă dimineaţa. 
Cînd va trece Domnul ca să lovească Egiptul, şi va vedea sîngele pe pragul de sus şi pe cei doi stîlpi ai uşii, Domnul va trece pe lîngă uşă, şi nu va îngădui Nimicitorului să intre în casele voastre ca să vă lovească. 
Să păziţi lucrul acesta ca o lege pentru voi şi pentru copiii voştri în veac. 
Cînd veţi intra în ţara, pe care v'o va da Domnul, după făgăduinţa Lui, să ţineţi acest obicei sfînt. 
Şi cînd vă vor întreba copiii voştri: ,Ce însemnează obiceiul acesta?` 
să răspundeţi: ,Este jertfa de Paşte în cinstea Domnului, care a trecut pe lîngă casele copiilor lui Israel în Egipt, cînd a lovit Egiptul, şi ne -a scăpat casele noastre.`` Poporul s'a plecat, şi s'a închinat pînă la pămînt. 
Şi copiii lui Israel au plecat, şi au făcut cum poruncise Domnul lui Moise şi lui Aaron; aşa au făcut. 
La miezul-nopţii, Domnul a lovit pe toţi întîii născuţi din ţara Egiptului, dela întîiul-născut al lui Faraon, care şedea pe scaunul lui de domnie, pînă la întîiul-născut al celui închis în temniţă, şi pînă la toţi întîii-născuţi ai dobitoacelor. 
Faraon s'a sculat noaptea, el şi toţi slujitorii lui, şi toţi Egiptenii; şi au fost mari ţipete în Egipt, căci nu era casă unde să nu fie un mort. 
În aceeaş noapte Faraon a chemat pe Moise şi pe Aaron, şi le -a zis: ,,Sculaţi-vă, ieşiţi din mijlocul poporului meu, voi şi copiii lui Israel. Duceţi-vă să slujiţi Domnului, cum aţi zis. 
Luaţi-vă şi oile şi boii, cum aţi zis, duceţi-vă, şi binecuvîntaţi-mă.`` 
Egiptenii zoreau poporul, şi se grăbeau să -i scoată din ţară, căci ziceau: ,,Altfel, toţi vom pieri.`` 
Poporul şi -a luat plămădeala (coca), înainte de a se dospi. Şi-au învelit postăvile cu plămădeala în haine, şi le-au pus pe umeri. 
Copiii lui Israel au făcut ce spusese Moise, şi au cerut Egiptenilor vase de argint, vase de aur şi haine. 
Domnul a făcut ca poporul să capete trecere înaintea Egiptenilor, cari le-au împlinit cererea. Şi astfel au jăfuit pe Egipteni. 
Copiii lui Israel au plecat din Ramses spre Sucot, în număr de aproape şase sute de mii de oameni cari mergeau pe jos, afară de copii. 
O mulţime de oameni de tot soiul s'au suit împreună cu ei; aveau şi turme însemnate de oi şi boi. 
Cu plămădeala, pe care o luaseră din Egipt şi care nu se dospise încă, au făcut turte fără aluat; căci fuseseră izgoniţi de Egipteni, fără să mai poată zăbovi, şi fără să-şi ia merinde cu ei. 
Şederea copiilor lui Israel în Egipt a fost de patru sute treizeci de ani. 
Şi, după patru sute treizeci de ani, tocmai în ziua aceea, toate oştile Domnului au ieşit din ţara Egiptului. 
Noaptea aceea trebuie prăznuită în cinstea Domnului, pentrucă atunci i -a scos din ţara Egiptului; noaptea aceea trebuie prăznuită în cinstea Domnului de toţi copiii lui Israel şi de urmaşii lor. 
Domnul a zis lui Moise şi lui Aaron: ,,Iată porunca privitoare la Paşte: niciun străin să nu mănînce din ele. 
Să tai împrejur pe orice rob cumpărat cu bani, şi apoi să mănînce din ele. 
Veneticul şi simbriaşul să nu mănînce. 
Să nu le mănînce decît într'o singură casă; să nu luaţi deloc carne afară din casă, şi să nu zdrobiţi niciun os. 
Toată adunarea lui Israel să facă Paştele. 
Dacă un străin, care va locui la tine, va vrea să facă Paştele Domnului, orice parte bărbătească din casa lui va trebui tăiată împrejur; apoi se va apropia să le facă, şi va fi ca şi băştinaşul; dar niciun netăiat împrejur să nu mănînce din ele. 
Aceeaş lege va fi pentru băştinaş ca şi pentru străinul, care va locui în mijlocul vostru.`` 
Toţi copiii lui Israel au făcut cum poruncise Domnul lui Moise şi lui Aaron; aşa au făcut. 
Şi chiar în ziua aceea, Domnul a scos din ţara Egiptului pe copiii lui Israel, după oştile lor.
