1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,

2 Let the children of Israel also hold the passover at its set time;

3 on the fourteenth day in this month between the two evenings, ye shall hold it at its set time; according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ordinances thereof shall ye hold it.

4 And Moses spoke to the children of Israel, that they should hold the passover.

5 And they held the passover in the first {month} on the fourteenth day of the month, between the two evenings, in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that Jehovah had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.

6 And there were men, who were unclean through the dead body of a man, and could not hold the passover on that day; and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

7 And those men said to him, We are unclean by reason of the dead body of a man: why are we kept back, that we may not present the offering of Jehovah at its set time among the children of Israel?

8 And Moses said to them, Stay, and I will hear what Jehovah commands concerning you.

9 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any one of you or of your generations be unclean by reason of a dead body or be on a journey afar off, yet he shall hold the passover to Jehovah.

11 In the second month, on the fourteenth day, between the two evenings, shall they hold it; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs shall they eat it.

12 They shall leave none of it until the morning, nor break a bone thereof: according to every ordinance of the passover shall they hold it.

13 But a man that is clean, and is not on a journey, and forbeareth to hold the passover, that soul shall be cut off from among his peoples; because he presented not the offering of Jehovah at its set time: that man shall bear his sin.

14 And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and would hold the passover to Jehovah, according to the rite of the passover, and according to the ordinance thereof, so shall he do. Ye shall have one rite, both for the stranger and for him that is born in the land.

15 And on the day that the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tabernacle of the tent of testimony; and at even it was upon the tabernacle as the appearance of fire, until the morning.

16 So it was continually: the cloud covered it, and at night it was as the appearance of fire.

17 And when the cloud rose from the tent, then the children of Israel journeyed; and at the place where the cloud stood still, there the children of Israel encamped.

18 According to the commandment of Jehovah the children of Israel journeyed, and according to the commandment of Jehovah they {remained} encamped; all the days that the cloud dwelt upon the tabernacle they encamped.

19 And when the cloud was long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of Jehovah, and journeyed not.

20 And if it were so that the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle, according to the commandment of Jehovah they encamped, and according to the commandment of Jehovah they journeyed.

21 And if it were so that the cloud was there from the evening until the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed; or a day and a night, and the cloud was taken up, they journeyed;

22 or two days, or a month, or many days, when the cloud was long upon the tabernacle, dwelling upon it, the children of Israel {remained} encamped, and journeyed not; but when it was taken up, they journeyed.

23 At the commandment of Jehovah they encamped, and at the commandment of Jehovah they journeyed: they kept the charge of Jehovah according to the commandment of Jehovah through Moses.

1 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise, în pustia Sinai, în luna întîi a anului al doilea, după ieşirea lor din ţara Egiptului. Şi a zis:

2 ,,Copiii lui Israel să prăznuiască Paştele la vremea hotărîtă.

3 Să le prăznuiţi la vremea hotărîtă, în a patrusprezecea zi a lunii acesteia, seara1; să le prăznuiţi după toate legile, şi după toate poruncile privitoare la ele.``

4 Moise a vorbit copiilor lui Israel, să prăznuiască Paştele.

5 Şi au prăznuit Paştele în a patrusprezecea zi a lunii întîi, seara1, în pustia Sinai; copiii lui Israel au făcut întocmai după toate poruncile, pe cari le dăduse lui Moise Domnul.

6 S'a întîmplat că nişte oameni, fiind necuraţi din pricină că se atinseseră de un mort, nu puteau prăznui Paştele în ziua aceea. Ei s'au înfăţişat în aceeaş zi înaintea lui Moise şi înaintea lui Aaron.

7 Şi oamenii aceia au zis lui Moise: ,,Noi sîntem necuraţi din pricina unui mort; de ce să fim nevoiţi să nu ne aducem la vremea hotărîtă darul cuvenit Domnului în mijlocul copiilor lui Israel?``

8 Moise le -a răspuns: ,,Aşteptaţi să văd ce vă porunceşte Domnul.``

9 Şi Domnul a vorbit lui Moise, şi a zis:

10 ,,Vorbeşte copiilor lui Israel, şi spune-le: ,Dacă cineva dintre voi sau dintre urmaşii voştri este necurat din pricina unui mort, sau este într'o călătorie lungă, totuş să prăznuiască Paştele în cinstea Domnului.

11 Şi, să le prăznuiască în luna a doua, în ziua a patrusprezecea, seara1; să le mănînce cu azimi şi ierburi amare.

12 Să nu lase din ele nimic pînă a doua zi dimineaţa, şi să nu frîngă niciun os din ele. Să le prăznuiască după toate poruncile privitoare la Paşte.

13 Dacă cineva nu este necurat, nici nu este în călătorie, şi totuş nu prăznuieşte Paştele, sufletul acela să fie nimicit din poporul lui; pentru că n'a adus darul cuvenit Domnului la vremea hotărîtă, omul acela să-şi ia pedeapsa pentru păcatul lui.

14 Dacă un străin, care locuieşte între voi, prăznuieşte Paştele Domnului, să se ţină de legile şi poruncile privitoare la Paşte. Aceeaş lege să fie între voi, pentru străin ca şi pentru băştinaş.``

15 În ziua cînd a fost aşezat cortul, norul a acoperit locaşul cortului întîlnirii; şi, de seara pînă dimineaţa deasupra cortului era ca înfăţişarea unui foc.

16 Totdeauna era aşa: ziua, norul acoperea cortul, iar noaptea avea înfăţişarea unui foc.

17 Cînd se ridica norul de pe cort, porneau şi copiii lui Israel; şi acolo unde se oprea norul, tăbărau şi copiii lui Israel.

18 Copiii lui Israel porneau după porunca Domnului şi tăbărau după porunca Domnului; tăbărau atîta vreme cît rămînea norul deasupra cortului.

19 Cînd norul rămînea mai multă vreme deasupra cortului, copiii lui Israel ascultau de porunca Domnului, şi nu porneau.

20 Cînd norul rămînea mai puţine zile deasupra cortului, ei tăbărau după porunca Domnului, şi porneau după porunca Domnului.

21 Dacă norul se oprea de seara pînă dimineaţa, şi se ridica dimineaţa, atunci porneau şi ei. Dacă norul se ridica după o zi şi o noapte, atunci porneau şi ei.

22 Dacă norul se oprea deasupra cortului două zile, sau o lună, sau un an, copiii lui Israel rămîneau tăbărîţi, şi nu porneau; şi cînd se ridica, porneau şi ei.

23 Tăbărau după porunca Domnului, şi porneau după porunca Domnului; ascultau de porunca Domnului, de porunca Domnului dată prin Moise.
