1 O *God of vengeances, Jehovah, *God of vengeances, shine forth;
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth, render the reward to the proud.
3 How long shall the wicked, O Jehovah, how long shall the wicked triumph?
4 {How long} shall they utter {and} speak insolence-all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
5 They crush thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thine inheritance;
6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless,
7 And say, Jah will not see, neither will the God of Jacob regard {it}.
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 He that instructeth the nations, shall not he correct-he that teacheth man knowledge?
11 Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Jah, and whom thou teachest out of thy law;
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14 For Jehovah will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance;
15 For judgment shall return unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? who will stand for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 If Jehovah had not been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
18 When I said, My foot slippeth, thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
19 In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me thy comforts have delighted my soul.
20 Shall the throne of wickedness be united to thee, which frameth mischief into a law?
21 They band together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
22 But Jehovah will be my high tower; and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 And he will bring upon them their iniquity, and will cut them off in their own evil: Jehovah our God will cut them off.
1 Doamne, Dumnezeul răzbunărilor, Tu, Dumnezeul răzbunărilor, arată-Te!
2 Scoală-Te, Judecătorul pămîntului, şi răsplăteşte celor mîndri după faptele lor!
3 Pînă cînd vor birui cei răi, Doamne, pînă cînd vor birui cei răi?
4 Ei ţin cuvîntări puternice, vorbesc cu trufie, şi toţi cei ce fac răul se fălesc.
5 Ei zdrobesc pe poporul Tău, Doamne, şi asupresc moştenirea Ta.
6 Junghie pe văduvă şi pe străin, ucid pe orfani,
7 şi zic: ,,Nu vede Domnul, şi Dumnezeul lui Iacov nu ia aminte!``
8 Totuş, învăţaţi-vă minte, oameni fără minte! Cînd vă veţi înţelepţi, nebunilor?
9 Cel ce a sădit urechea, s'ar putea să n'audă? Cel ce a întocmit ochiul, s'ar putea să nu vadă?
10 Cel ce pedepseşte neamurile, s'ar putea să nu pedepsească, El, care a dat omului pricepere?
11 Domnul cunoaşte gîndurile omului: ştie că sînt deşerte.
12 Ferice de omul, pe care -l pedepseşti Tu, Doamne, şi pe care -l înveţi din Legea Ta,
13 ca să -l linişteşti în zilele nenorocirii, pînă se va săpa groapa celui rău!
14 Căci Domnul nu lasă pe poporul Său, şi nu-Şi părăseşte moştenirea.
15 Ci se va face odată judecata după dreptate, şi toţi cei cu inima curată o vor găsi bună.
16 Cine mă va ajuta împotriva celor răi? Cine mă va sprijini împotriva celor ce fac răul?
17 De n'ar fi Domnul ajutorul meu, cît de curînd ar fi sufletul meu în tăcerea morţii!
18 Oridecîte ori zic: ,,Mi se clatină piciorul!`` bunătatea Ta, Doamne, mă sprijineşte totdeauna.
19 Cînd gînduri negre se frămîntă cu grămada înlăuntrul meu, mîngîierile Tale îmi înviorează sufletul.
20 Te vor pune cei răi să şezi pe scaunul lor de domnie, ei cari pregătesc nenorocirea la adăpostul legii?
21 Ei se strîng împotriva vieţii celui neprihănit, şi osîndesc sînge nevinovat.
22 Dar Domnul este turnul meu de scăpare, Dumnezeul meu este stînca mea de adăpost.
23 El va face să cadă asupra lor nelegiuirea, El îi va nimici prin răutatea lor; Domnul, Dumnezeul nostru, îi va nimici.
