A Psalm of David.

1 Give unto Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty ones, give unto Jehovah glory and strength; 2 Give unto Jehovah the glory of his name; worship Jehovah in holy splendour. 3 The voice of Jehovah is upon the waters: the ·God*GodHebrew: El of glory thundereth, — Jehovah upon great waters. 4 The voice of Jehovah is powerful; the voice of Jehovah is full of majesty. 5 The voice of Jehovah breaketh cedars; yea, Jehovah breaketh the cedars of Lebanon: 6 And he maketh them to skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young buffalo. 7 The voice of Jehovah cleaveth out flames of fire. 8 The voice of Jehovah shaketh the wilderness; Jehovah shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of Jehovah maketh the hinds to calve, and layeth bare the forests; and in his temple doth every one say, Glory! 10 Jehovah sitteth upon the flood; yea, Jehovah sitteth as king for ever. 11 Jehovah will give strength unto his people; Jehovah will bless his people with peace.

1 *Ein Psalm; von David.Gebet Jehova, ihr Söhne der Starken, gebet Jehova Herrlichkeit und Stärke! 2 Gebet Jehova die Herrlichkeit seines Namens; betet Jehova an in heiliger Pracht! 3 Die Stimme Jehovas ist auf *O. über den Wassern; der Gott *El der Herrlichkeit donnert, Jehova auf *O. über großen Wassern. 4 Die Stimme Jehovas ist gewaltig, die Stimme Jehovas ist majestätisch. 5 Die Stimme Jehovas zerbricht Cedern, ja, Jehova zerbricht die Cedern des Libanon; 6 Und er macht sie hüpfen wie ein Kalb, den Libanon und Sirjon *der zidonische Name für den Berg Hermon; vergl. 5. Mose 3,9 wie einen jungen Büffel. 7 Die Stimme Jehovas sprüht Feuerflammen aus; *W. spaltet Feuerflammen8 Die Stimme Jehovas erschüttert die Wüste, Jehova erschüttert die Wüste Kades. 9 Die Stimme Jehovas macht Hindinnen kreißen, und entblößt die Wälder; und in seinem Tempel spricht alles: *W. sein Alles, d. h. alles was darin ist Herrlichkeit! 10 Jehova thront auf *O. thronte bei der Wasserflut, *Dasselbe Wort wie 1. Mose 6,17 usw. und Jehova thront als König ewiglich. 11 Jehova wird Stärke geben seinem Volke, Jehova wird sein Volk segnen mit Frieden.
