10 When and the vision he saw, immediately we sought to go out into the Macedonia, inferring that had called to us the Lord to announce glad tidings to them.
11 Having sailed therefore from the Troas we ran a direct course to Samothracia, the and succeeding to Neapolis;
12 thence and to Philippi, which is first of the part that Macedonia, city, a colony. We were and in this the city abiding days some.
13 On the and day of the sabbaths we went out of the city by a river, where was allowed a place of prayer to be, and having sat down we spoke to the having come together women.
14 And a certain woman by name Lydia, a seller of purple of a city of Thyatira worshipping the God, heard; for whom the Lord opened the heart, to attend to those being spoken by the Paul.
15 When and she was dipped, and the house of her, she entreated us, saying: If you have judged me faithful to the Lord to be, having entered into the house of me, abide you. And she forced us.
16 It happened and going of us to a place of prayer, a femaleservant certain having a spirit of Python to meet us, who gain much brought the lords of herself, divining.
17 She having followed closely the Paul and us, cried saying: These the men bondservants of the God the most high are, who are proclaiming to us a way of salvation.
10 After Paul had this vision, we got ready to leave for Macedonia. We decided that God had called us to preach the good news to the people there.
11 We left by ship from Troas and sailed to Samothrace, and the next day to Neapolis.
12 From there we went inland to Philippi, a city of the first district of Macedonia. It is also a Roman colony. We spent several days there.
13 On the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the river where we thought there was a place of prayer. We sat down and spoke to the women who gathered there.
14 A woman named Lydia who was a seller of purple came from Thyatira. She worshipped God because God opened her heart to listen to the things spoken by Paul.
15 When she and her household were baptized she came to us saying, »If you judge me to be faithful to God, come to my house, and stay there.« She absolutely insisted that we come.
16 A young woman who had a spirit of divination met us as we were going to the place of prayer. She brought her masters much gain by soothsaying.
17 She followed Paul and cried out: »These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.«
