16 Und er kam nach Nazareth, wo er erzogen war; und er ging nach seiner Gewohnheit am Sabbathtage in die Synagoge und stand auf, um vorzulesen.

17 Und es wurde ihm das Buch des Propheten Jesaias gereicht; und als er das Buch aufgerollt hatte, fand er die Stelle, wo geschrieben war:

18 "Der Geist des Herrn ist auf mir, weil er mich gesalbt hat, Armen gute Botschaft zu verkündigen; er hat mich gesandt, Gefangenen Befreiung auszurufen und Blinden das Gesicht, Zerschlagene in Freiheit hinzusenden,

19 auszurufen das angenehme {O. wohlgefällige} Jahr des Herrn". {Jes. 61,1. 2}

20 Und als er das Buch zugerollt hatte, gab er es dem Diener zurück und setzte sich; und aller Augen in der Synagoge waren auf ihn gerichtet.

21 Er fing aber an, zu ihnen zu sagen: Heute ist diese Schrift vor euren Ohren erfüllt.

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and he entered, according to his custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.

17 And {the} book of the prophet Esaias was given to him; and having unrolled the book he found the place where it was written,

18 {The} Spirit of {the} Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach glad tidings to {the} poor; he has sent me to preach to captives deliverance, and to {the} blind sight, to send forth {the} crushed delivered,

19 to preach {the} acceptable year of {the} Lord.

20 And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.

21 And he began to say to them, To-day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.
