1 Im Anfang war das Wort, und das Wort war bei Gott, und das Wort war Gott.

2 Dieses O. Er war im Anfang bei Gott.

3 Alles ward durch dasselbe O. ihn, und ohne dasselbe ward nicht eins, das geworden ist.

4 In ihm war das Leben, und das Leben war das Licht der Menschen.

5 Und das Licht scheinet in der Finsterniß, und die Finsterniß hat es nicht erfaßt O. begriffen.

6 Es ward ein Mensch gesandt von Gott; sein Name: Johannes.

7 Dieser kam zum Zeugniß, auf daß er zeugte von dem Lichte, damit alle durch ihn glaubten.

8 Jener war nicht das Licht, sondern daß er zeugte von dem Lichte.

9 Das war das wahrhaftige Licht, welches, kommend in die Welt, jeden Menschen erleuchtet d. h. sein Licht auf jeden Menschen scheinen läßt. And. übers. welches erleuchtet jeden Menschen, kommend in die Welt.

10 Er war in der Welt, und die Welt ward durch ihn, und die Welt kannte ihn nicht.

11 Er kam in das Seinige O. in sein Eigenthum, und die Seinigen nahmen ihn nicht auf;

12 so viele ihn aber annahmen, denen gab er das Recht, Kinder Gottes zu werden, denen, die an seinen Namen glauben,

13 welche nicht aus Geblüt, noch aus dem Willen des Fleisches, noch aus dem Willen des Mannes, sondern aus Gott geboren sind.

14 Und das Wort ward Fleisch und wohnte unter uns (und wir haben seine Herrlichkeit angeschaut, eine Herrlichkeit als eines Eingebornen vom Vater) voller Gnade und Wahrheit;

1 In a beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and a god was the Word.

2 This was in a beginning with the God.

3 All through it was done; and without it was done not even one, that has been done.

4 In it life was, and the life was the light of the men;

5 and the light in the darkness shines, and the darkness it not apprehended.

6 Was a man having been sent from God, a name to him John;

7 this came for a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.

8 Not was he the light, but that he might testify about the light.

9 Was the light the true, which enlightens every man coming into the world.

10 In the world he was, and the world through him was, and the world him not knew.

11 Into the own he came, and the own him not received.

12 As many as but received him, he gave to them authority children of God to become, to those believing into the name of him;

13 who not from bloods, nor from a will of flesh, nor from a will of a man, but from God were begotten.

14 And the Word flesh became, and tabernacled among us, (and we beheld the glory of him, a glory as of an onlybegotten from a father,) full of favor and truth.
