3 But when Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.4 And having gathered together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired from them where the Christ would be born.5 So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:6 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.' "7 Then Herod, secretly having called the wise men, ascertained from them the time that the star appeared.8 And having sent them to Bethlehem, he said, "Go and carefully search for the young Child, and as soon as you find [Him], report back to me, so that I also may come and worship Him."
