Pray for All People
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 Ezra 6:10for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and ch. 3:4dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and ch. 5:4it is pleasing in the sight of ch. 1:1God our Savior, 4 who desires ch. 4:10;Ezek. 18:23,32all people to be saved and 2 Tim. 3:7to come to 2 Tim. 2:25;Titus 1:1;Heb. 10:26the knowledge of the truth. 5 For See Gal. 3:20there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man2:5 men and man render the same Greek word that is translated people in verses 1 and 4 Christ Jesus, 6 See Matt. 20:28who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is See 1 Cor. 1:6the testimony given ch. 6:15;Titus 1:3;[Gal. 4:4]at the proper time. 7 ch. 1:11;Eph. 3:7,8;2 Tim. 1:11For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (See Rom. 9:1I am telling the truth, I am not lying), See Acts 9:15a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 I desire then that [John 4:21] in every place the men should pray, Ps. 63:4;119:48;[Isa. 1:15] lifting Job 17:9;Ps. 24:4holy hands without anger or quarreling; 9 likewise also 1 Pet. 3:3;[Isa. 3:18-23]that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 [1 Pet. 3:4]but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. 11 Let a woman learn quietly Titus 2:5with all submissiveness. 12 [1 Cor. 14:34]I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13 Gen. 1:27;2:8For Adam was formed first, Gen. 2:18,22then Eve; 14 and Adam was not deceived, but Gen. 3:6,13the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 15 Yet she will be saved through [Gal. 4:4] childbearing—if they continue in ch. 1:14faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
