7Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, ch. 16:14;20:1;Num. 13:26Kadesh) and defeated all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who were dwelling 2 Chr. 20:2in Hazazon-tamar.

1As soon as all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites Num. 13:29who were by the sea, Ex. 15:14heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan for the people of Israel until they had crossed over, their hearts See ch. 2:11melted and 1 Kgs. 10:5there was no longer any spirit in them because of the people of Israel.

17but See ch. 7:2you shall devote them to complete destruction,20:17 That is, set apart (devote) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction) the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, as the Lord your God has commanded,

26He acted very abominably in going after [ch. 15:12;2 Kgs. 17:12;21:11] idols, as Gen. 15:16the Amorites had done, whom the Lord cast out before the people of Israel.)
