They said, "We have no more than *Matt. 16:9;Mark 8:19five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people." 14 For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each."15 And they did so, and had them all sit down. 16 And taking the five loaves and the two fish, *Mark 7:34;John 11:41;17:1he looked up to heaven and *ch. 24:30;1 Sam. 9:13;Matt. 26:26;Mark 8:7;14:22;[1 Cor. 14:16]said a blessing over them. It convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and shatters him, and will hardly leave him. 40 And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but *[ver. 1; ch. 10:17;Matt. 10:1;Mark 6:7]they could not." 41 Jesus answered, "O *Phil. 2:15;[John 20:27] faithless and twisted generation, *[John 14:9]how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here."42 While he was coming, the demon threw him to the ground and convulsed him. But Jesus *ch. 4:35,39;Zech. 3:2;Matt. 8:26;Mark 1:25;Jude 9rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and *See ch. 7:15gave him back to his father. 43 And all were astonished at *2 Pet. 1:16the majesty of God.
