38 And behold, a man from the crowd cried out, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for *See ch. 7:12he is my only child. 39 And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out. It convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and shatters him, and will hardly leave him. 40 And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but *[ver. 1; ch. 10:17;Matt. 10:1;Mark 6:7]they could not." 41 Jesus answered, "O *Phil. 2:15;[John 20:27] faithless and twisted generation, *[John 14:9]how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here."42 While he was coming, the demon threw him to the ground and convulsed him. But Jesus *ch. 4:35,39;Zech. 3:2;Matt. 8:26;Mark 1:25;Jude 9rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and *See ch. 7:15gave him back to his father. 43 And all were astonished at *2 Pet. 1:16the majesty of God.
