23 Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,Verse 23 is linked to 22; insult or injury is involved—an overt action, an unpleasant scene that will presumably be alive in your memory. 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled with your brother and then, returning, offer your gift.Verses 23-24 refer to moral debt, through abusive language.
