59 Und es geschah am achten Tage, da kamen sie, das Kindlein zu beschneiden; und sie nannten es nach dem Namen seines Vaters: Zacharias.

60 Und seine Mutter antwortete und sprach: Nein, sondern er soll Johannes heissen.

61 Und sie sprachen zu ihr: Niemand ist aus deiner Verwandtschaft, der diesen Namen trägt.

62 Sie winkten aber seinem Vater zu, wie er etwa wolle, dass er genannt werde.

63 Und er forderte ein Täfelchen und schrieb also: Johannes ist sein Name. Und sie verwunderten sich alle.

64 Alsbald aber wurde sein Mund aufgetan und seine Zunge gelöst, und er redete, indem er Gott lobte.

59 And it came to pass on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. 60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John. 61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name. 62 And they made signs to his father, what he would have him called. 63 And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all. 64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, blessing God.
