1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth.21:1. See Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66:22. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and the sea no longer existed. 2 I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, descending from God out of heaven, prepared like a bride made beautiful for her husband. 3 I heard a loud voice from the throne say, "Now God’s home21:3. The word is literally, "to pitch a tent." is with human beings and he will live with them. They will be his people. God himself will be with them as their God.21:3. "As their God" is not found in all ancient manuscripts. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,21:4. Quoting Isaiah 25:8. and death will never happen again. There will be no mourning or crying or pain ever again for the former world no longer exists."
5 The one who sits on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" He told me, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
