11 "If you have two coats, then share with someone who doesn’t have one. If you have food, then share with those who don’t," he told them.
13 "Don’t collect any more tax than you’re meant to," he replied.
14 "What about us?" some soldiers asked. "What should we do?"
"Don’t demand money with threats of violence. Don’t make accusations that are untrue. Be satisfied with your wages," he replied.
11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. 13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. 14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.
11 John answered, "Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same."
13 "Don’t collect any more than you are required to," he told them.
14 Then some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?"
He replied, "Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely—be content with your pay."
11 And he answered them, Isa. 58:7;Dan. 4:27;Eph. 4:28;James 2:15,16;1 John 3:17;[ch. 18:22]"Whoever has two tunics3:11 Greek chiton, a long garment worn under the cloak next to the skin is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise." 13 And he said to them, ch. 19:8"Collect no more than you are authorized to do." 14 Soldiers also asked him, "And we, [See ver. 10above] what shall we do?" 14 "What should we do?" asked some soldiers.
John replied, "Don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay."
