Deuteronomy 32

16 They made him jealous with strange gods;

with detestable things they provoked him.

17 They sacrificed to the demons, not God,

to gods whom*Hebrew "them" they had not known,

new gods who*Hebrew "they," understood in the verb form came from recent times;

their ancestors had not known them.*Literally "their fathers not knew them"

18 The rock who*Hebrew "he," understood in verb form bore you, you neglected,

and you forgot God, the one giving you birth.
