25 Und siehe, da lebte ein Mann in Jerusalem namens Simeon; dieser Mann war gerecht ( gesetzestreu) und gottesfürchtig; er wartete auf die Tröstung Israels, und heiliger Geist war auf ihm.

26 Vom heiligen Geist war ihm auch geoffenbart worden, er solle den Tod nicht eher sehen, bevor er den Gesalbten des Herrn gesehen hätte.

27 So kam er denn damals, vom Geist getrieben, in den Tempel; und als die Eltern das Jesuskind hineinbrachten, um nach dem Brauch (oder: der Vorschrift) des Gesetzes mit ihm zu verfahren,

28 da nahm auch er es in seine Arme und pries Gott mit den Worten:

29 »Herr, nun entläßt du deinen Knecht,wie du ihm verheißen hast (vgl. V.26), im Frieden;

30 denn meine Augen haben dein Heil gesehen (Jes 40,5),

31 das du vor den Augen aller Völker (Jes 52,10) bereitet hast,

32 ein Licht zur Erleuchtung der Heiden (Jes 42,6; 49,6)und zur Verherrlichung deines Volkes Israel.«

25 And lo, was a man in Jerusalem, to whom a name of Simeon; and the man this just and pious, waiting for consolation of the Israel. And a spirit was holy upon him,

26 and it was to him having been informed by the spirit of the holy, not to see death, before he should see the Anointed of Lord.

27 And he came by the spirit into the temple; and in the to bring the parents the little child Jesus, of the to do them according to that having been instituted of the law concerning him;

28 also he took it into the arms of himself, and blessed the God, and said:

29 Now dost thou dismiss the servant of thee, O Sovereign, according to the word of thee, in peace;

30 for have seen the eyes of me the salvation of thee,

31 which thou hast prepared before face of all the people;

32 a light for a revelation of nations, and a glory of people of thee Israel.
