14-18Desperate, I throw myself on you:you are my God!Hour by hour I place my days in your hand,safe from the hands out to get me.Warm me, your servant, with a smile;save me because you love me.Don’t embarrass me by not showing up;I’ve given you plenty of notice.Embarrass the wicked, stand them up,leave them stupidly shaking their headsas they drift down to hell.Gag those loudmouthed liarswho heckle me, your follower,with jeers and catcalls.

12-14Are you going to repeat the life of your ancestor Jacob?He ran off guilty to Aram,Then sold his soul to get ahead,and made it big through treachery and deceit.Your real identity is formed through God-sent prophets,who led you out of Egypt and served as faithful pastors.As it is, Ephraim has continuallyand inexcusably insulted God.Now he has to pay for his life-destroying ways.His Master will do to him what he has done.
