11 "If you have two coats, give one away," he said. "Do the same with your food."
13 He told them, "No more extortion—collect only what is required by law."
14 Soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?"
He told them, "No harassment, no blackmail—and be content with your rations."
11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise. 13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. 14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.
11 John answered, "Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same."
13 "Don’t collect any more than you are required to," he told them.
14 Then some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?"
He replied, "Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely—be content with your pay."
11 And he answered them, Isa. 58:7;Dan. 4:27;Eph. 4:28;James 2:15,16;1 John 3:17;[ch. 18:22]"Whoever has two tunics3:11 Greek chiton, a long garment worn under the cloak next to the skin is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise." 13 And he said to them, ch. 19:8"Collect no more than you are authorized to do." 14 Soldiers also asked him, "And we, [See ver. 10above] what shall we do?" And he said to them, [See ver. 13above] "Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your 1 Cor. 9:7(Gk.)wages."
11 John replied, "If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry."
13 He replied, "Collect no more taxes than the government requires."
14 "What should we do?" asked some soldiers.
John replied, "Don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay."
11 He answered and said to them, Luke 11:41; 2 Cor. 8:14; James 2:15, 16; (1 John 3:17; 4:20)"He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, Is. 58:7; (1 Tim. 6:17, 18)let him do likewise."
13 And he said to them, Luke 19:8"Collect no more than what is appointed for you."
14 Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, "And what shall we do?"
So he said to them, "Do not intimidate anyone Ex. 20:16; 23:1; Lev. 19:11or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages."
11 And he would answer and say to them, "The one who has two 3:11 A long shirt worn next to the skintunics is to share with the one who has none; and the one who has food is to do likewise." 13 And he said to them, "3:13 Lit DoCollect no more than what you have been ordered to." 14 And soldiers also were questioning him, saying, "What are we to do, we as well?" And he said to them, "Do not extort money from anyone, nor 3:14 Or blackmailharass anyone, and be content with your wages."
11 He replied to them, "The one who has two shirts must share with someone who has none, and the one who has food must do the same." 3:11 Is 58:7
13 He told them, "Don’t collect any more than what you have been authorized."
14 Some soldiers also questioned him, "What should we do? "
He said to them, "Don’t take money from anyone by force or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages."
11 And he answering, said to them: He that hath two coats, let him give to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do in like manner. 13 But he said to them: Do nothing more than that which is appointed you. 14 And the soldiers also asked him, saying: And what shall we do? And he said to them: Do violence to no man; neither calumniate any man; and be content with your pay.
