2 Peter 3:15,16

NASB New American Standard Bible 2020

15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which there are some things that are hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

  1. KJV King James Version

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

  2. NIV New International Version

15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

  3. ESV English Standard Version

15 And count See ver. 9the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as [Acts 15:25] our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you 1 Cor. 3:10according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. [Heb. 5:11] There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, [Isa. 28:13]as they do the other Scriptures.

  4. NLT New Living Translation

15 And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— 16 speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.

  5. NKJV Nova Versão King James

15 and consider thatPs. 86:15; Rom. 2:4; 1 Pet. 3:20the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his Rom. 8:19; 1 Cor. 15:24; 1 Thess. 4:15; 2 Thess. 1:10epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as theydo also the 2 Tim. 3:16rest of the Scriptures.

  6. CSB Christian Standard Bible

15 Also, regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our dear brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.  3:15 Ac 9:17; 15:25; 2Pt 3:216 He speaks about these things in all his letters. There are some things hard to understand in them. The untaught and unstable will twist them to their own destruction,  3:16 Heb 5:11; 2Pt 2:14 as they also do with the rest of the Scriptures.

  7. DRA Douay-Rheims American 1899

15 And account the longsuffering of our Lord, salvation; as also our most dear brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, hath written to you: 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

  8. MSG The Message

14-16 So, my dear friends, since this is what you have to look forward to, do your very best to be found living at your best, in purity and peace. Interpret our Master’s patient restraint for what it is: salvation. Our good brother Paul, who was given much wisdom in these matters, refers to this in all his letters, and has written you essentially the same thing. Some things Paul writes are difficult to understand. Irresponsible people who don’t know what they are talking about twist them every which way. They do it to the rest of the Scriptures, too, destroying themselves as they do it.
