28 And they stripped Him and put a red 27:28 I.e., a Roman soldier’s cloakcloak on Him. 29 And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and put a 27:29 Or staff; i.e., to mimic a king’s scepterreed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
